Pipis and vongoles are really similar. If you like mussels, the Belgium Beer cafe on Harrington St in the city make super yum pots of mussels. They’re tender and cooked just right so that it’s not overcooked tough and chewy.
(I’ve got the same pair of shoes, but mine are pink)
Yeah they had vongoles there too, but they were a bit smaller than the pipis. I love shellfish!
Where is Harrington St near?? I so gotta try it out! What sauce does it come in?
It’s parallel to George St. From George St, turn left onto Grosvenor and then turn right onto Harrington.
They’ve got heaps of different flavours:
Provencale – Cooked with tomatoes, herbs & garlic
Tintin au Congo – Cooked with coconut cream, lemongrass & chilli
White Wine – Cooked with vegetables & white wine
Poulette – Cooked with white wine, bacon, vegetables & a touch of cream
Hoegaarden – Cooked with vegetables, in Hoegaarden White Beer
Blue Cheese – Cooked with vegetables, blue cheese & lemon juice
MariniΓ¨re – Cooked with vegetables in a tasty broth
A l’Escargot – Half-shell mussels, grilled with garlic butter
I had the poulette and when I was done eating all those tender mussels (I shared with mum) I dipped some garlic bread in.
Oooo it’s close! And *smacks lips* yum yum, the mussels look gooooood. Can’t believe I haven’t heard of this place before π I’m for the Poulette or A l’Escargot!
Hey thanks for letting me know, I’m going to go next week with Chris. Does 1 serve of mussels serve 2 people?
1 serve is good shared between 2 small eaters. If you have a bigger appetite then a dish of something else would be just right.
I was told to book my table, but that time I went, it wasn’t all that busy. It was a Tuesday lunchtime.
Those mussels are lush!
I think 1 serve and then another appetizer or dessert or something will be nice:) yayyy going to go over the weekend!

Oh that looks so yummy! what kind of clams are they? only located in AU? Looks SO YUMMY!
They’re SUPER GOOD! They’re called Pipis and I know they sell in AU and SG, but not sure about the states :X
Love ballet flats too! I’ve got a bright-pink pair and it’s so comfy yet cute, heh. π
Hey dya mind me asking how much you paid? In AU, good quality, comfy shoes are around AU$100 π
Don’t mind at all, no worries! It was quite a while ago tho’, and I’m not sure exactly how much but it was either $49 / $69. Definitely less than 100 bucks, ouch.
What’s your shoe size anyway? Mine’s ‘bt 5 or 6, depending on the brand. I can help you look out for comfy & reasonably priced footwear if you’d like~! π
We have the same size feet π i’m generally a 5.5! But for shoes with the back bit that wrap around your heel, I usually need 5 or 5.5 so it hugs tighter.
If you see cheap flats, please do lmk! I’m going to see if I can get them from any AU outlet stores as well π
Are those Super soft Diana Ferraris? They look exactly like my ones… and my goodness they are so good to walk in!
Ya they are!! They’re sooo nice π Mum got the black ones and I’m trying to find the pink ones on sale so I can get them π $90 is too much to pay full price!
They’re not on sale down here π and yeah they were expensive, but ones that looked like them weren’t friendly on the feet and having to stand for hours at work I had to get these comfy ones… they have pink too? oh wow…. must look out for them… ballet flats are so pretty and go with so many things… π yay shoes…
I know they have an outlet store in Sydney, just don’t know if it’s in stock! They also have this black pair with a thin pink leather ribbon trim at the edge, have you seen it? I saw it on their website and it’s sooo sweet looking!
Also, I heard that Payless have a really similar pair that’s 100% leather and only $39.95. And if you go to payless.com.au you can print out a $5 coupon off that price π
