Yeah I never travel with my best clothes/shoes/accessories just in case I lose them. My sunglasses aren’t expensive at all but they are my fave and i’ve had them for so long (and lost them 3 times) that they are sentimental now.. so when i go travelling I bring a crap pair (crap in that they’ve actually fallen apart and one side is held together with a paper clip. I don’t really care if I lose them that way!)

and you’re right about not getting stuff returned.. I lost a video camera battery somewhere during customs (cost about $100) and rang but they didnt have one handed in 🙁

Anyway that was nasty about the customs.. guess it was just unforeseeable on your part 🙁
