I FINALLY found out what was causing those #^#$O% pop-ups!!!
Thanks to your tips, I was able to pinpoint the source of the trouble and disable it. Free, free at last!!!!! Hee hee!! After putting up with that crap for weeks upon weeks, I can hardly describe how wonderful it feels to be rid of it!
Thanks again for your help! I doubt I’d have found it without your advice.
Re: Totally unrelated, but….
Glad you got rid of those darn things! π Be careful when you download programs, as many out there tend to put spyware or other crap things on your machine :X
Re: Totally unrelated, but….
Yeah, I’m being a lot more careful about that now! What’s kind of ironic, though, is that these pop-ups were coming from something from MicroSoft! If I remember correctly I downloaded a special enhancement for IE called WinTools, and one of its default preference settings is to pop ads from time to time. In order to turn them off I had to access the settings via Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

Weeeell.. the groceries are cheap and the eating places are good. What could be better? π

Hair
(Jac) I’m soo lazy with my hair too! But I think I’m blessed with hair that looks alright even when I don’t even comb it, it just looks fine, haha. That’s why I only pop by to the salon when I want to do highlights, which is probably twice a year only..*proud of my hair* =)
Re: Hair
You’re so lucky! My hair’s frizzy and kinda wavy and is just MAD if I don’t straighten it π But because of that, I can’t color my hair which really sucks :T My cousin has nice hair like you and I’m so envious of her π
Re: Hair
Ha, yeah, I’m lucky. That’s why I don’t understand the deal with bad-hair days. (But it can get boring sometimes, cos’ I don’t bother styling just cos’ it looks alright. *lol*)
You can’t color your hair cos’ you do TR? I didn’t know of such ‘rules’, is it cos’ it’d be too drying or something? But natural black looks great on you anyway! =)
i hear ya! this weekend HAS gone really fast!!!

yoga, pilates.
hi bev! I frequently read your journal and i know you do yoga or pilates or sth? Can i have some info on what attributes it gives you and what do you do during yoga? π thanks bev
Re: yoga, pilates.
Eeek! I think you got the wrong person π I don’t do Yoga and neither do I do Pilates! I’ve done one Pilates class once, about 1-2 years ago, butt ahts’ about it… but both are for stretching and being lean or something like that!
nice length! i’m thinking of getting mines short again, mid neck. it’s soooooooooo bloody scorching hot here and having long hair doesn’t help at all! how much does it cost rebonding your hair there?
Mine’s *just* at my shoulders.. which is exactly what I’m after. Totally sick of waiting 3 hrs for my hair to dry and it was just sooo unmanagable :X It was AU$150 for that and a cut, not too bad!!
i hear ya! this weekend HAS gone really fast!!!
i go to that restaurant in eastwood all the time with my uni friends and i have to agree its the best place hey! fantastic food, and so cheap too!! *drools*
Cool!!! Any recs on what’s good there??
I always order:
– fried squid
– century egg congee
But everything there is seriously goooood… MMM now i feel like eating there tonight LOL
The beef & egg congee was sooo good – I ordered congee ‘cos it looked like every other table was π You gotta try their steam pork dumplings!! I’m also wanting to try their roast duck..
hahaha will definitely try their steam pork dumplings next time i’m there!
i’ve tried their bbq pork before, it’s really good! mmmmmm even their laksa is deliiiiiish!
Oooh yeah.. I saw their laksa was pretty cheap too, wiill have that too next time :)~
You sound like me- I’m so lazy with my hair. Every time I have it cut/styled, I vow to get trims every six weeks, but it never happens.
TR is usually so crazy-expensive in Australia, but what you paid is really darn good!
I got mine done in Shanghai last month for $50 including three haircuts, treatment and also getting my eyebrows done, LOL. Labour is so incredibly cheap in Asia!
Considering how much we like beauty/fashion, one would think we cut our hair religiously every 6 weeks or something π
$50 is amazing!! Was it well done?
Before TR, my hair was the ban of my existence. It’s so thick and unruly and generally nightmarish.
It was really amazingly well done. I guess RMB$350 is probably considered a significant expense for most locals, labour is just so incredibly cheap in China. I almost felt guilty- I had two stylists plus the owner of the salon looking after me, and the entire process took about 5-6 hours because they were so meticulous.
While my mum was waiting for me, she got a whole heap of hair and beauty treatments done, including a 2-hour intensive facial for around AUD$12!
*bane
Same here with the hair! Mine’s thick and frizzy and just really really crap when it’s natural. I hate it.
Even more reason for me to go to China now – it’s amazing that it’s so cheap for long hair, plus the fact that they treat you well and do it properly. How often do you TR? I do it every 7-8 months and I’ve done it 6 times.. kinda worried I’m frying my hair :X
Oops, totally forgot to reply to this comment!
I’ve only had TR done once, I’ve been putting it off for ages. I always figured it would destroy the quality of my hair, but now that it’s been done- I’m really eager to have it done again! LOL.
So how’s the condition of your hair? Mine actually feels okay, shiny and sleek…but it does seem a bit more weak/brittle in a sense, like strands seem to snap more easily than normal. A bit freaky. :/
I wouldn’t do TR over and over again unless you reckon you really nNEEEEEDDD it, like me π My hair’s really uncontrollable and I hate it normally.. but doing it repeatedly does make it feel weaker, esp when you run a finger down it. Also, while 90% of the ends are super straight, 5-10% have a frizz to it – some aren’t noticable but you can feel it when you run it between fingers.. hard to describe but it’s just annoying – nothing you can do except cut it off, really!
Also forgot to mention- my hair is really long, about halfway down my back.
yoga, pilates.
