Nah.. I don’t think gender is much of an issue, if you’re thinking of being a network specialists, Coms specialists etc, then you maybe a little bit on the minority side, as they’re more dominated by males.
Out of about 15 odd ish “techie” in our office, 3 of them were female, 1 Security admin, 1 NT admin, and 1 telephony. However, across the e-business side (java, notes, VB, html etc), we have like 6 females and 3 males. And I think you really enjoy Web design, and you won’t be a minority at all. As long as you are good, which I think you are, you’ll be right…
Just make sure that you start submitting your Graduate program apps as soon as its time … and don’t forget to include your current work-experience.., you’ll be laughing till you forget your own name.. ;p
Oh cool, that’s really good to hear. Think I’ll be going for the more inter-personal side of things, I think I prefer it. I definitely won’t do webdesign though – it doesn’t really get you anywhere and I reckon it’s only good as a hobby :T I think I want HCI or AI orientated jobs, they’re really fun and pay well π
And yeah.. I think I have to start applying for jobs in about 6 months time, I think people do it even before they graduate? ‘Cos I graduate end of next year..

Hi Bev!
I think it’s awesome that you’re doing what you’re doing – setting a great example for young girls to follow who are afraid to enter the IT industry. So keep doing what you’re doing π
I’m currently doing computer science and psychology too! And also mainly focusing on AI and developing better human-computer interfaces. Heh, we’re so alike in our career goals!
Gah, I admire you for being able to do presentations! I am so chicken when it comes to those things, hehe!
I don’t think I’m “setting” anything ‘cos I doubt me being here will change the industry or whatever! But I’m definitely want to show them that females can get the job done as well as males..
That’s awesome that you’re doing Comp Sci and Psych too though, hardly anyone I know does that combination!
mmmmmm cake… and german fluffy pastry… mmmmmmmm…
