Food reviews - Singapore, Hunter, Playdates A TETE-A-TETE AT ANTOINETTE 3 December 2011

Antoinette
30 Penhas Road
Singapore
PRICE: $$$
RATING: ????-

I’ve been wanting to check out Antoinette for quite awhile now, so was  surprised and delighted with my girl friend casually mentioned “oh, it’s next to where I live”. Guess where we went to for lunch, then? 😉

It’s absolutely beautiful inside. Decked out in a duck-egg baby blue and white colour combination, the decor is ornate yet classically simple. Frankly, it’s what my dream home would look like. I loved the colours, the furnishings, and the little details in the restaurant. Gorgeous!

Antoinette is a quintessential Parisian pâtisserie and salon du thé, named after the last queen of France who was so often revered for her fine taste and lavishly indulgent love for an excess of meticulously crafted pastries.

This lamp. I want it for our bedside tables!!

It’s obvious that Antoinette specialists in desserts (their chef came from Canele Patisserie), but we also had our lunch there and I would say their mains range from good to great. I think they’re pretty good value for money, considering the prettiness of the cafe. Overall though, we agreed that their Burger was the best value and was probably the tastiest as well. Check out the pics below!

Vanilla hot chocolate. So rich and creamy... luscious!

Burger Royale - pan-fried beef patty on brioche bread, mayonnaise, homemade tomato relish, lettuce, red onion, mustard, aged cheddar cheese, chips (SG$18)

Scrambled egg gratin with tomato fondue, Paris ham, sauteed mushrooms, and parmesan (SG$15)

Florentine crepe - Serrano ham, emmental cheese, sunny side up egg, hollandaise sauce (SG$15)

And because I can’t resist a dessert, and HELLO we’re in a dessert cafe!, I also ordered the Crepe Nougatine. It hit the spot 😀 Slightly savoury crepe, filled with sweet Nutella and creamy salted caramel, and huge dollops of creme chantilly. Not to mention the creamy ice cream was lovely enough to be eaten by itself. I’d happily order this one again 🙂

Crepe Nougatine - filled with Nutella, salty caramel, caramelised filo, nougatine ice cream, vanilla creme chantilly (SG$16)

Mummies + babies, all happily fed.. 🙂

We then chilled out back home and let the babies toddle around and play. Though I must say, poor Hunter really does need to find some mates to hang out with… and by that I mean of the male variety! Virtually all of his friends are female. I suppose when he grows up I will tell him this; and he will either feel like a bit of a pansy, or really badass 😉

THIS IS THE LIFE

Our 3 lil rugamuffins!
