Located in an old mansion, South Beauty offers elegant and ultra chic Sichuan dining in a myrid of sleek rooms as well as a gorgeous outdoor terrace. It makes for a memorable lunch on gloriously bright and sunny afternoon.. a chance for us to chill out and relax under the warm sun and enjoy a delicious meal.

The service is discreet yet attentive, and exceedingly polite. Every wish was accomodated and they even spoke a little English, which was awesome. Better yet, their (entirely pictorial) menu was in English, and was a thick book full of various dishes. Of course, this meant we wanted just about one of everything.. and we would’ve if the place wasn’t so exorbitantly expensive. Settled on quite a few dishes though, which left us utterly stuffed!

A delightful meal and a real treat on such a perfect day. It’d probably be my place of choice if we were to have our wedding in Shanghai – I’d love it out in their garden under the trees.. and treat all our guests to an awesome meal afterwards 🙂

Beautiful tea, infused by the flowering leaves. It was jaw-droppingly
expensive, but was absolutely divine – we drank about 3 pots each

Sichuan Noodles in Chilli Sauce – silky smooth noodles. Awesome.

Spare Ribs – Meaty yet tender, with a great kick

Shallot Flavour Pancake Stuffed with Braised Pork – not bad, but way way too expensive

Pork Dumplings Sichuan Style – this was outstanding, so silky and delicate!

Pan-fried buns with pork and shallots – really pricey but not bad, though I can get
better from the road-side stall outside our apartment compound 😉

Steamed Rice Countryside Style – plain, but went well with all the
highly seasoned and spicy dishes
