It’s worth pointing out that I don’t like bread. Well, to clarify, I don’t like the standard Western toast stuff that people eat in the morning, as sandwiches, etc. I just consider it meaningless food, a “filler”, no substance, a waste of stomach space. I avoid it as much as I can. That said, I LOVE the Asian bakery type buns, I LOVE croissants and pastries, and I LOVE bagels!!

We were at Macquarie Shopping Centre and noticed that there was a new cafe open, The Great Bagel & Coffee Co. Immediately and rudely insisted all of us eat there ‘cos I was just dying to check it out πŸ˜› It’s basically sandwich fillings, but in a bagel. OMG yum!! Took me ages to decide on what we wanted and of course, HAD to order curly fries (OMG!!) and onion rings (DOUBLE OMG!!!!). The only other thing I really wanted? A huge root beer float πŸ˜€

Food was fantastic. Loved it, wanted more. Now they just need to open a branch in the City so I can go there 3x a week πŸ˜‰

Honeybread Man – it was delish!

Then it was off to ice skating, which we realised was one of the first/very few times we’ve done something non-food related. HAHA!! We went ‘cos the boys dragged us along.. I think I’ve only been ice skating once or twice previously and generally only to just sit on the benches or hug onto the wall for dear life πŸ˜‰ I have pretty good balance (I guess 10 years of ballet comes in useful sometimes?!) but I hate feeling out of control and scared. And ice skating really makes me feel that way – all slippery and only a split second before I flat on my face and have my fingers sliced off by someone’s ice skate going over the top of my hand. Yes I’ve heard it happens okay!!

But upon Chris’ (very nice) encouragement and patience, I agreed to let go of my dear wall and potter around onto the ice. I swear I’ve shaved off at least 2 years of my life in that 1-2hrs on the ice.. my heart was beating so fast the entire time I had to repeatedly stop and hang onto the wall just to calm myself down, as I kept thinking I’d have a heart attack or something!! It was really fun though.. I spent most of the time envisioning that I did not look like a klutzy wide-eyed terrified person and more of a graceful swan skimming over my winter wonderland. Bwahahhaa.

I loveee blueberry bagels… but I must go there for those bagel sandwiches
and I loveee honeybread man I HAVE to buy a few whenever I go to Starbucks

Macq is my local shopping centre and I’ve walked by that bagel cafe HEAPS of times, never gone in though. It seems really popular and maybe after your post, I might just try it some time…
