FOOD, Food reviews, Uncategorized DOMINO’S – THEY’VE DONE IT AGAIN 9 May 2007

So and I had Domino’s for dinner last night. Why? Because we wanted to try out their new MEAT PIE PIZZA!!!!!!

I didn’t have very high hopes for it at first – because everyone kept telling me it would be messy, oily and in particular, not as ‘pretty looking’ as it looked in advertising photos. All I can say is, DOMINO’S PROVED YOU WRONG!!! It arrived piping hot and absolutely gorgeous looking. Even better-looking than their regular pizzas. Amazingly, it wasn’t oily at all – there was no oil soaked into the cardboard box and my fingers were totally dry and sans oil whilst eating it. And it looked terrific – almost picture perfect and utterly enticing.

Taste-wise? It was a winner. The base is thin but not too thin, and it has a scattering of mince meat that wasn’t too overwhelming and ‘meaty’. I could have done with no peas and mushrooms instead, but the fresh juicy tomatoes were a nice touch. The thin layer of pie pastry on top was delicious – flaky, tasty and slightly buttery. And yes, it does taste like a meatpie, but not as meaty and heavy. 4 slices were gobbled up by me easily and I would say any regular person can easily at 6-8 slices – since it’s not very filling or oily. It was absolutely divine πŸ™‚

Dessert was some of their Choc Fudge Brownies. Deceptively, the box they come in is much bigger than the brownies themselves, which come shaped in a long thin bar and you can cut it up into smaller pieces. Also, they forgot to include the Chocolate Dipping Sauce, much to my disappointment and annoyance. Still though, after popping them into the microwave for a few seconds, they were luscious so I have no complaints – rich, smooth, and oh-so-moist and fudgy! It actually ranks up there with one of the best flourless-chocolate cakes I’ve had, and those were at expensive restaurants. So Domino’s becomes a winner on price and taste, by far. Just wish they had included that dipping sauce………..

It was a fantastic meal. Must have it again soon… perhaps tomorrow πŸ˜›

Yeah I thought there wasn’t much meat either, but i think it’s so the pizza doesn’t get too sloppy and soggy? I LOVED the pastry though!

(Hi, you don’t know me…I found your LJ with a random clickety clack of the keyboard, a few weeks ago and added you as a friend. Thanks, by the way for always keeping my Friends page colorful and delicious.)

What’s that red stuff they have swirled on top for presentation? I am in the U.S., which is the original birthplace of Domino’s and we have NOTHING as good as that! Maybe you are just extra talented with the digital camera, but that Meat Pie Pizza looks positively gourmet. The closest thing we have to this in the States is the ‘MeatZZa Feast’ pizza…which doesn’t compare at all. And we totally don’t have Choc Fudge Brownies with Chocolate Dipping Sauce in our Domino’s, either! All we have is their ‘Cinna Stix’ which is basically just the Domino’s pizza crust dough, cut in strips, and covered liberally in butter, sugar, and cinnamon.

Oh thanks for adding me! I’ll add you back now πŸ™‚

The red swirl is some tomato sauce! How GOOOOD does the pizza look, I thought i’td turn out kinda slushy and gross but it was picture perfect. I’m in love with it :)~

*Waves*!

I always feel famous when I get mentioned in your posts. Thanks for a lovely night – so glad we finally caught up!

Re: I Love Pizza

You so should try it!!! Bloody brilliant. I do like their bbq chicken though, on the Puffection pastry. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…..

oh dear, i’m so suprised to read such a positive review!
everytime i see it on TV i feel my stomach turn.
maybe i should give dominos a little more credit!

HEh yeah to be honest the concept sounds a bit bizzare, but GEEZ it tastes good. ANd it’s not all oily and cheesy and yuck, it’s brilliant!

I didn’t have high hopes for the brownies initially but they were surprisingly good. Especially with the dipping sauce.
