Chris and I decided to hit Macro Cafe for lunch after returning to Sydney, for some healthy(ish) eating.. much needed after all the guilty food we had over the past week! With an all-organic menu, it’s always great to visit when you’ve overdosed on naughty food.

My last visit wasn’t fantastic in terms of customer service, despite the food being pretty good. This time, the service was much better πŸ™‚ The lady was friendly and smiley, and even offered to bring out my cake to the table when I asked if she could warm it up. They were a bit hurried, but since they have a constant queue, I can’t blame them. Chris’ only gripe was that “they have no meat dishes!!!” Previously they had a spaghetti bolognaise that was lovely, and they normally have meat pies but were sold out when we arrived.

So he ended up settling for Organic nachos with beans, avocado and sour cream. 2 words: seriously overpriced. we were honestly really shocked when we saw it – it was a big handful (which was good, admittedly) of chips, a smattering of avocado and the beans looked/tasted like they just came out of a can.. and some runny sour cream over it all. Nothing was cooked, it looked like it took zero-effort to prepare, and was so expensive!!!! Madness.

I opted for the Organic grilled pesto mushrooms served with sourdough toast and butter. Happily, it was a total winner!!! The toast was a little hard/crusty for my liking, but I haven’t had sourdough toast before so maybe they’re always like that? The mushrooms, however, were divine – all juicy and with just the right amount of tasty pesto.. with a generous helping of shredded cheese. It was totally delicious :)~

Dessert was a Mandarin Cake that looked very lonely and woeful on the plate. It wasn’t expensive, but could have come with just a wee bit of decoration or something, anything, to make it look a bit more appetising. Still though, it was all moist and lovely.. with bits of real mandarin inside. I’ll definitely get that again.

That just looks like a muffin to me… and most places don’t bother with presentation for their muffins!

I figure cafes usually just give you decoration when they charge you like $7 for a tiny slice of cake so they can somehow justify charging you so mcuh! πŸ™‚ I guess the $3.50 it cost you wasn’t worht their while for decoration πŸ˜›

Haha yes, well if you put it that way! πŸ˜› I do still think a little drizzle of chocolate sauce or something won’t cost that much and just jazzes it up – the more appetizing it looks the more likely people will re-order, IMHO!

It would’ve been more worth the price if there was LOADS of chopped tomato, avocado, salsa, beef, etc… but there was either NONE of that, or just a teeny big. Bah!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh I thought you meant “the fat one” as in “the fatty dish”! I was like, errrrrrrr both are meant to be non-fat, heh
