Carter went on a school excursion last week, so we were talking about it in the car the next day and I was asking him how it went.

“I saw a DEAD MAN”, he informed me, seriously.

Shocked (and a tad alarmed!), I inquired further. “Er.. a dead man? Really?”

“Yeah”, he frowned. “A dead man in the field.”

Hunter, sitting next to him, turned to me and rolled his eyes. “He means a SCARE CROW, Mummy.”

“Uh-huh”, Carter nodded. “A dead man. To scare off all the birds.”

Okay darling. If it really was a dead man in the field, I think he’d be scaring off more than a few birds!
