FOOD, My recipes MY RECIPE BOX: Christmas Snowmen from Muji 22 December 2014

Muji Homemade Snowmen for Christmas

Obviously, this isn’t really “My Recipe Box”, as titled, since it’s following someone else’s recipe to a T! But I’m just lumping it in this category, for filing’s sake.

So, CHRISTMAS IS ALMOST HERE!!!!!!

With just a few days away, I thought it’d be fun to do something a little Christmassy. And I fully recommend doing this with your kids too, if you have access to Muji. It’s Muji’s make your own snowmen!

It is insanely, insanely straight forward. All ingredients are provided, and even a little cake cup to bake it in. All you need is basic stuff like a microwave, oil, sugar, egg and milk. It only takes about 30mins of effort, and is FUN AS HELL FOR KIDS AND ADULTS!

You pop in the dry cake mix (provided), and add in some sugar, an egg, oil and milk.

Mix it up for a few seconds until it’s creamy. Pour into the cake pan (provided), and whack it in the microwave for about 3 mins.

Take out the cooked cake, and chop it up into wee pieces! The smaller the better.

Mix it up with the dried fruit (provided), and slap away your kids’ fingers as they keep sneakily reaching to take a piece! Roll up the bits of cake into 12 little balls, using cling wrap, and pop into the fridge to cool for a few mins.

Melt the white chocolate (provided), and dip each of the 12 little balls into the chocolate, then place onto a plate, building your snowman.

Our little snowmen, half done! You can put some of the remainder bits of dried fruit to form ‘buttons’ on their bodies.

Use the milk chocolate ‘pen’ provided to draw on faces and accessories. This is a lot of fun!

This is what Muji did, their stock photo. So so so freaking cute, right?!

And this was our homemade ones. It’s nowhere near as polished as Muji’s, but still not too shabby. It was so simple to make, and so FAST! The kids were in awe.

Yeah check out Mr Snowman 3rd from the left… he got a severe lobotomy (or rather, the entire top half of his head his missing) because Hunter decided to take a bite mid-way.

I will caveat that Hunter only took that one bite, and Carter refused to even take a single bite. So they didn’t appeal to my kids enough to eat. But, us adults loved them! It’s basically yummy butter cake covered in chocolate – what’s there not to like?

My kids are a bit odd. But if you have normal kids that like desserts, and like cakes, and like chocolates.. then this will be a WINNER!

I leave you with this photo above, of the kids playing around in ‘snow’ outside Tanglin Mall. I did not quite expect THAT much snow, as it was our first time doing this! It was crowded (Saturday night), but the kids had a blast and thus so did I 🙂

Hope you are all getting into the Christmas spirit, everyone!
