Beauty, Events, Shopping BETTERBEAUTY.SG – KAREN’S BOTANICALS, HURRAW! LIP BALM GIVEAWAY 25 September 2013

An SG-based online shop, BetterBeauty.sg, has recently launched. They pride themselves on selling responsible beauty products, that are “great to use, and contain less harmful chemicals and less toxic sustances”.

I actually don’t own many organic or responsible beauty products, so I was really excited to have the opportunity to pick out a couple to try out.

Aaaaannndddd… you’ll have the chance to try them out too, because BetterBeauty.sg are super nice and we have 2 Hurraw! lip balms to giveaway!! In the flavour of your choice 🙂

So read on to check out the giveaway……

Karen’s Botanicals

Karen’s Botanicals Queen of Hungary’s Water

I’d never heard of Karen’s Botanicals before this. They’re a USA brand, made in the USA, and feature organic herbs and pure natural ingredients in their product range.

Specifically, their Karen’s Botanicals Queen of Hungary’s Water caught my eye. It’s meant to be used as a facial toner, hair rise, sunburn remedy or skin conditioner.

HOW WEIRD DOES THAT SOUND???

I was totally intrigued.

Completely organic and natural, it’s safe to use on sensitive skin and is supposed to help dryness/itching, inflammation, acne etc. And so, I was fully intending to use this as a facial toner, because I thought my skin could really do with something organic and calming.

All you do is squeeze some of the liquid onto a cotton pad and swipe over your face after cleansing. Easy!

Karen’s Botanicals Queen of Hungary’s Water, used as a facial toner (SG$20)

Aaahhhhmmm… so in theory I was gonna use it as a facial toner. In reality, the smell didn’t agree with me! I admit, I’m a girly girl. I like ~nice~ smelling things… even though I’m always told not to use perfumed skincare (supposed to be a skin irritant). Well, this product definitely doesn’t have fragrance added to it. Au naturale, it smells like vinegary and herb-y, all at the same time. I’m told on the page that “Karen learned to make this product with her family in eastern Slovakia, where she found jars filled with organic vinegar and brightly colored flowers and herbs and allowed to absorb the energy of the sun.”

Yep, it definitely smells like that 😉

What to doooooo??? *pinches nose*

I then tried it out as a hair rinse and HOLY SMOKES IT IS A WINNER.

I mix one part of this stuff with about four parts water, then pour it all over my hair. I massage it in, then rinse it out after a few mins (though they say it’s fine to leave it in without rinsing off).

Funnily, I actually like the smell when I pour it through my hair, and the scent dissipates quickly anyway. What I AM left is super soft hair.

So when I use this immediately after shampooing, I find that my hair is sleeker and softer… kind of like the effect I get after conditioning. It’s VERY OBVIOUS this product makes hair a lot smoother. I can almost get away without using a conditioner! Normally unheard of as I have extremely frizzy and volume-y hair.

Karen’s Botanicals Enriching Rosehip Eye Cream

I was very keen on the Karen’s Botanicals Enriching Rosehip Eye Cream because…. I don’t use eye cream *sheepish*

Not that I’m not vain or anything (I am), but rather I’m just far too lazy and never got round to buying myself some eye cream. I was super interested in this because it was touted as a treatment cream and has organic rosehip seed oil and organic cocoa butter in it.

It comes in a small tub but, man, the cream is so potent you need the tinest bit!

Karen’s Botanicals Enriching Rosehip Eye Cream (SG$32)

That smudge of cream above, on the back of my hand? About 7 days worth of usage. The cream goes that far!

What I like about it is that it absorbs very very quickly, despite it being a rich cream. I use the reside left on my fingers to pat onto my (dry) cheeks at night.

I’m using this eye cream only at night (still too lazy to apply in the morning), but I like the very mild natural scent and how plump and soft it makes my eye area feel.

Patted into the back of my hand

Hurraw! Lip Balm

Grabby baby fingers going for my Hurraw! lip balms (SG$7.90 each)

I was particularly excited to discover that BetterBeauty.sg stocked Hurraw! lip balms, from the USA.

These are good. REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY GOOD.

And I know this, because I’ve been using my own Hurraw! night treatment balm for months now. I’d purchased it at a random shop and loved it, but then never saw it again. Rather pleased to find them here online!

I love Hurraw! balms because, frankly, they feel amazing on the lips.

I am very picky with my lip balms. I find it super annoying when I buy one, and the flavour makes me feel a little grossed out, or the texture makes my lips feel weird, or worst of all.. when they actually make my lips feel drier.

These Hurraw! balms are small and compact, glide on soooo smoothly, and feel rich but not tacky on the lips. They are very, very nice.

They’re also made using premium organic, vegan and raw ingredients.

Guess who’s also taken a liking to my Hurraw! lip balms……………….?

Wondering why Mummy is always reaching for this little thing..

“Mama. I put on makeup too”. I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry!

OK I will stop waffling here.

Vanilla Bean Balm is my kind of flavour and I hope the organisers will be kind enough to let me win it. =)

Earl Grey definitely! Love all things earl grey and have never thought it would appear in a lip balm =)

Eyecream is like UBER important!! I use it ALL the time, even when sick and feeling like death, I will crawl outta bed and put on my eye cream and vaseline (once a week only). As a woman on the wrong side of 30, I can tell you, it makes such a huge difference.
I have a 30 spf eye cream, day eye cream, night cream, eye cream in the office in case I have to wash my face and the vaseline once a week was a beauty tip. Plus I don’t even have dry skin. ahahaha. I’m just saying it’s sooooo important.

Earl Grey sounds delicious! Thanks for doing this giveaway!
Hunter has the perfect pout! I am super jealous.

I would like to win the Earl Grey Lipbalm! Sounds so yummy:) heh heh:) thank you for the giveaway!
