This post is outdated by a couple of weeks, but better late than never 😛 We headed to Brasserie Wolf, a French bistro situated along the river. This was during Restaurant Week, so we had the pleasure of having some lovely French food at very affordable prices ($25++ for 3-courses!). The service was swift and discreet, and it was a pleasant meal despite the fact that they didn’t serve any complimentary bread (I always get irked when a nice restaurant makes you pay for bread) or coffee/tea as part of the set meal, like Brasserie Les Saveurs did.

Hunter's getting to be as big as my whole torso now 😛

"Glass of wine for me, please, waiter"

The entree of Wagyu beef and foie gras ravioli, duck consomme and tarragon came out looking like… well… a Chinese dumpling soup 😛 I suppose you can’t really go wrong with a simple dish with quality ingredients, so despite being a little on the small side, it was well executed.

I was surprised the Crab salad with toasted country bread was actually quite a sizable amount of crab. It came with two slices of bread which were rather uninteresting, since the crab salad was really good as-is. It was cool, creamy and boasted the freshness of the chunky crabmeat.

The Pan seared Barramundi, asparagus and jalapeno salsa, roma tomatoes was perfectly seared so the fish itself was tender and full of moistness and flavour. It was a good-sized chunk of fish and went well with the tasty salsa, though it would have been even better with some buttered rice served on the side as well.

I loved the Crispy duck leg confit, fresh poached prunes, cauliflower puree. It doesn’t seem so in the photo, but the duck was so tender it fell off the bone. Yum yum yum! It was a mini-duck leg though, a shame because this dish was so excellent I wanted a giant portion, or two of these babies 😉 One thing that surprised me is that I just realised the mash was a cauliflower puree. I thought it was potato mash when I was eating it.. it tasted the same! A surprise, because I actually hate cauliflower…

"KISSES??!!?"

I love the look on his face here 😉

I wasn’t wow’d by the Creme caramel with chantilly cream dessert, but then again, I’m not a huge fan of creme caramel in general. Chris said it was good, though.

My dessert was the Steamed toffee and date pudding, and got a huge thumbs up from me! There’s just something so comforting about a warm pat of pudding, drenched in syrup and topped with creamy vanilla ice cream. Is sticky date pudding easy to cook at home?? I really should try it…

So, who's Hunter looking more like now? 😛

I love reading your blog about food, shopping, and hunter! Do you find that you shop and eat out more than before now that you stay at home?

LOVE that last pic of you with Hunter.

And to answer your question about cooking sticky toffee pudding at home; it’s incredibly easy. It’s one of those mix it all up together then bake recipes.
