France, Uncategorized EUROTRIP: THE FAMOUS LOUVRE MUSEUM 27 August 2010

Chris really wanted to check out the Louvre with me whilst we were in Paris. He’d been before when he was in Paris 3-ish years ago and spent hours there, and wanted to bring me back there. I’m not huge on art or architecture, but he said it was really big inside with loads to see.. and after all, it IS the tourist destination to go to when you’re in Paris, so we decided to head there.

It truly was giant. Is it the biggest museum in the world? It sure seems like it! We spent about 2 hours there before we were exhausted, but there’s easily enough to see for an entire day. I liked the Napoleon furniture best, as well as the Paintings hall. The old history halls were also really interesting.

Overall, I was interested but not blown away. But that’s just because I’d rather be outdoors and chilling out, than doing touristy things and looking at art. But if you’re a history or art buff, you will LOVE this!

The beautiful Louvre from the outside

In the big hall area, in front of a statue of a lion

Medieval castle

Someone had a LOT of time carving these..

Ornate Napoleon apartments

Think of all the dusting that needed to be done!

The grand dining room

Winged Victory of Samothrace

The paintings hall..

..where the famous Mona Lisa is held

So many tourists crammed to take a pic of the Mona Lisa. Don’t get the hype, to be honest..

Gorgeous stained glass window

Hermes with my Hermes bracelet+watch, hahahhaha!

Oh! OH! Hey! I even commented asking if it was a cookie! Well, Tom thought it was a cookie. Ha ha obviously I still think it’s a nice necklace, even from afar!

You’re looking great btw, good job on the hols, and you’re a glowing mum!

I went to the Lourve last year, and I didn’t even know they had a Napoleon furniture room. I wish I had taken an introductory Art History class when I was in university to get the significance of most things.
