HOLIDAYS, Huangshan, Uncategorized HUANGSHAN: going up the mountain 7 May 2010

The next few posts contain photos split over several days.. but I tried to consolidate it as much as possible, hence why it looks like we did a LOT in a super short period of time πŸ˜‰

The main part of our trip was Huangshan Mountain. The same mountains that inspired the “floating mountains” in the movie Avatar. It’s really easy to see why when you see them in real life – huge and lofty, with clear air and beautiful weather. We had crystal clear blue skies whilst we were up on the mountain, but apparently it’s also gorgeous when it’s misty and raining, because the clouds descend and the mountain peaks are above the clouds, giving them a dream-like quality.

You can choose to walk 4.5 hours (!) to the top of the mountain, or take a cable car. Guess which one we chose? πŸ˜‰

Snozzing during the 1.5 hour journey to Huangshan Mountain

A solitary house along the way

Going up and up past other mountains

The road hugged the side of the mountain – scary!

Went on a looooooong cable car ride up Huangshan Mountain

Dad and Mum looking very chill

All matchy-match in red. It was unintentional, I swear!

A glimpse of the peak

On BEAUTIFUL Huangshan Mountain!

Pretty views and clear blue skies = bliss

LMAO

you know if those cable cars went up and down, I would love to get there when its raining and misty! I mean clouds where you stand? That would be so awesome!!!

What happens only 5 times a day? The rain or the cable car going up and down? – look at all these questions! As if I’d be going anywhere near the place πŸ˜›

It’s just that the pictures you took and the fact you described it during rainy weather – that truly would look like a fantasy world!!

It was absolutely beautiful at the top of the mountains.. quite amazing china has such gorgeous scenery!

everything is beautiful (as usual!!).

but i really just wanted to say how incredibly lucky and wonderful you are for being able to spend so much time w/your parents. your relationship w/them is obviously so close (just like i am w/my own folks).

Aww it’s good that you are too! Not many people can handle weeks living with parents (at least no one I know) so I think we are the minority πŸ™‚

Sigh, I bet going up in the cable car was much more awesome. I remember hiking up that mountain in heels – it was all my mum’s fault and I was young and stupid. I can’t wait to go back one day and actually enjoy the visit (rather than being annoyed and sore).

And love the matching outfit! So cute!

Your matching outfits are cute! πŸ˜€ (I also noticed that you typed snozzing instead of snoozing. I’m just a stickler for details haha :D)

The mountains look beautiful! πŸ™‚

Haha it was intentional… it’s just a random word I use with Chris and friends to mean sleeping/snoozing. I’m weird like that πŸ˜‰
