Food reviews - Shanghai, Uncategorized MYTHOS GREEK RESTAURANT, REVISITED 30 April 2010

Mythos
The Cool Docks, The Bund
Bldg 6, 479 Zhongshan Nan Lu
Shanghai, China

PRICE: ????
RATING:

On a stunningly sunny and clear day (a total treat for us, since it’s been rainy and dreary and freezing for weeks on end here), we decided to take Mum and Dad to Mythos. You may recall Chris and I had a double-date there with some friends a few weeks ago. Well, this was entirely different – or at least the ambience was. Instead of cosying up on the plush lounges indoors at night, we went up to the rooftop and ate under the blue sky.

It’s pretty amazing up there. Views spanning the Huangpu river and across to the huge buildings of the Bund, and just soaking in the sunshine after an incredibly long winter in Shanghai. A real treat, and for that ambience alone, Mythos’ high prices are worth it.

This time, we were better versed in what to order, so almost all the dishes were deliciously spot-on. The only thing I found fault with were the Scallops and tiger prawns dish, which had sad little shrivelled scallops. For the high price, I was expecting plump, juicy scallops. Fortunately, the massive prawns were delicious and made up for the strange scallops.

The best dish? Moussaka. Again. Like the last time, it was beautifully baked, and with a wonderously smooth and creamy texture. Ultimate comfort food and a fairly decent portion.

I don’t think we’d go back by ourselves for a simple dinner, the prices don’t warrant that. However, it’s a fantastic place to bring visitors or chill out with friends over a bottle (or two) of wine – especially in gorgeous weather and up on their rooftop!

On the rooftop at Mythos

Perusing the menu

The strange “garlic” bread, complete with pathetic drizzle of olive oil + garlic herbs

Tzatziki dip – refreshing and delightful

A fresh garden salad

Sad and shrivelled scallops, but with 3 super big delicious tiger prawns

Moussaka – outstanding!! Best dish there by far

Souvlaki – served on deliciously soft pita bread and a tumble of roasted veggies

Having a glass of wine under a clear blue sunny sky = bliss

This is their 3rd floor (just under the rooftop level). Dad and I randomly took a pic here.

Check out the cool painting!

They have these cute hammock-style chairs downstairs

Goodbye!

Hehe thanks hon! I didn’t realise it was nautical themed until I was looking at the photos and all that blue/white/red… lol

I know, I totally hate the weather here when it’s like sunny one day and rainy and F$%#@ cold the next! It looks like it’ll be getting warmer, though… [looks outside] yay sun! πŸ˜€

Greek food looks amazing! I’ve never tried it though… By the way, do you know where to get Greek yogurt in Shanghai, apart from crazy-expensive imported stuff from City Shop? Thanks!

I know… so happy that it looks like it’ll be nice for awhile. Hurray for awesome weather!

I only know of City shop or Carrefour for the yoghurt tho… :X
