We had a brunch get-together the day before ‘s wedding. It was at her self-selected Badde Mannors, which I’d never heard of nor been to in my life. Situated on a street corner, it’s cosy and cramped, with a bohemian flavour. A whole group of us were squished into a little side area of the cafe, which unfortunately was situated under the hot sun (and I mean HOT – the weather climbed to 40 degrees the week we were in Sydney!) with nary an air-conditioner in sight. Fortunately, Chris and I have been missing stinking hot weather, so we were happy to get hot weather wherever we could πŸ˜›

So the menus came… I perused it….. I perused some more.. I stared……. I got confused…………..

WHERE IS THE MEAT?!?!?!??!?!?!?!

She had sneakily gotten us into a VEGETARIAN RESTAURANT!!!! Naughty girl, leaving that tiny little detail out πŸ˜‰ I was a bit flabbergasted, at a lost as to what to order (brunch without lots of greasy sausages or bacon is totally lost on me). Once my mind wrapped around the holy-crap-I’m-in-a-veggo-cafe idea, I was super impressed at the extensive menu – the options and also their creative ideas. One thing that I’ve decided about veggo places – I think that since they can only do veggies, they really make an effort and put thought into cooking the food to still make it tasty.

We were very happy with our meals – the food was really tasty and it actually didn’t seem to lack for meat. The only thing was my mushrooms on toast could really have done with some salt or at least a few rashes of bacon, since mushrooms can be quite plain by itself. Still, I don’t get much great mushrooms in Shanghai, so was pleased I got a whole load of mushrooms into me that day πŸ˜›

Only downside was that I was hopping for dessert (their selections looked awesome) but everyone else claimed to be “stuffed”. Hrmph. Next time, I’d go back just to try their desserts!

Badde Manors – what an odd name for a cafe!

Right on the corner

Crammed in

Us girlies πŸ™‚ Hard to tell here, but we were sweating our asses off

Fabulous iced coffee and fresh fruit smoothies

A wonderful way to stave off the heat heat heat!

The green man has a green drink, lol

Big breakfast – Scrambled eggs with spinach, mushroom, baked beans, seasoned chat potato
& grilled tomato served on rye bread. The eggs and beans were delish!

Warm oats in soy sprinkled withcinnamon and brown sugar and served with banana or fresh strawberries.
Why anyone would go out to a cafe and eat OATS is beyond me…..

Poached eggs served with grilled tomato and seasoned chat potato on rye toast.
Those eggs = PERFECTION

Pan fried field mushrooms on rye toast served with grilled tomato and salad garnish.
Man these were luscious, mushrooms are best in Sydney! Needed extra salt/pepper though

Happily fed

Pic with just the girls, outside the cafe

Had mani/pedis done afterwards!

And, of course, shopping…. hehe
