RATING:

I just adore bills and consider it one of the top must-visit places in Sydney. Their cafes are always either out in the open, or with sun streaming in through the glass doors. They are perfect for brunch and just remind me oh so much of Australia πŸ™‚

We decided to pay the Woollahra suburb’s branch a visit, since they have cute little boutiques and delis along the street which make for a great poke around afterwards. They were surprisingly packed, despite being a week day – it was full of ladies of leisure sitting coffee and having a chat with their girl friends. The service was polite and warm (sometimes, bills is accused of having snobby wait staff) and our food arrived quickly.

As usual, I adored the Sweet corn fritters, roast tomato, spinach and bacon. Crispy discs of fritters, slightly sweet from the corn and paired well against the salty crunch of bacon. A fabulous dish, though it should have come with some guacamole, as the creamy cool texture would have gone perfectly against the crunch of the fritters.

The Ricotta hotcakes, fresh banana and honeycomb butter were good but not as outstanding as I’d remembered them to be. Not sure if it was because I was already full, or if it wasn’t cooked as well. But I know how to make these ricotta hotcakes at home, which IMHO taste better and at at about 1/10 of the price πŸ˜›

Their drinks are a total delight, though. The mocha is perfectly blended with Callebaut chocolate flakes and is rich and creamy – other coffee shop mochas simply pale in comparison. It’s actually even better than their hot chocolate, which also has the Callebaut chocolate flakes but is a little more plain, since there isn’t the kick of coffee in it. I especially love the breakfast sunrise drink (orange juice, banana, yoghurt and berries), a fantasticly creamy yet slightly tangy blend of fruit and yoghurt. It’s the drink I always order when I’m at bills!
