Family, Living in... Shanghai, Uncategorized MUM AND DAD IN SHANGHAI! 30 October 2009

Mum and Dad are here in Shanghai!!

They’re here for a visit, and also for my birthday (which is tomorrow – w00t!!). Tres cool, it’s their first time visiting us here and so it’s hella fun since everything is new for us to discover together. We’ve been going to a TON of places so I’ve given up photographing it all – also because I’ve been there before and already blogged most of ’em πŸ˜› Anyway, these are a few pics we took of our food-eating our way around Shanghai πŸ˜‰

Mum and Dad walking around our apartment compound

Queuing at the famous Yan’s Fried Dumplings on Wujian Lu (food street), right near where we live

And then buy random street-style food like the oysters cooking there, and lots of meat skewers

Huddled at a small table inside to chow down on our dumplings, oysters, skewers, etc…

These ‘lil babies are hot! But so so so good and filled with tasty soup inside :)~

We also hit the famous Yunnan Lu with lots of restaurants.. where we had “kao yu”

It’s basically a large fish, grilled, then placed in a metal tray with lots of veggies – delish!

We also squeezed in time for facials, manicures, pedicures and foot massages πŸ™‚

Had a great dinner in a lovely Western pub called The Spot.

Their food was freakin’ terrific!!

Their cheesecake too… nom nom nom….

We brought Mum and Dad for dinner at our favourite local Chinese joint, across the road from where we live.

We go SO often they recognise us (not that it’s hard, since Chris is the only non-Asian that goes!)

Totally adorable pic of Mum!!

Also Happy Halloween this weekend (in the USA), an excuse to eat some candy!

Your cheesecake brownies (several posts below) look awesome. Very nice swirls.
