FOOD, My recipes, Uncategorized HOMEMADE CHEESECAKE BROWNIES 28 October 2009

I made cheesecake brownies the other day – for Chris and I, and also for my colleagues at work. I figured most (all?) of them would have never tried these ‘lil babies before.. and decided that would not do, since they’re so delish 🙂 It appears more complex to make that it seems. The actual execution of it is straight-forward, but the downside is that there are extra bowls to wash afterwards (compared to, say, making a simple chocolate cake).

Heat 200g butter and 80g unsweetened chocolate in saucepan over low heat, stirring until melted. Turn off heat.

Whisk in 3/4 cup sugar, 2 eggs, 1/2 tsp vanilla essence, a pinch of salt, until well combined.
Whisk in 2/3 cup plain flour until just combined.

Pour brownie batter into pan.

In another bowl, whisk 250g (softened) cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 large egg yolk, 1/4 tsp vanilla essence.

Dollop over brownie batter.

Spread gently over surface with a knife, then swirl the knife through both layers.
Bake at 180 celcius for 30-35 minutes, or until top is cooked but inside is still a little soft/fudgy.

Fresh out of the oven – they smell AMAZING!!!

A warm little slice of heaven…

I bet your version of cheesecake would be amazing though, too bad it’s not available here in Shanghai!
