PRICE: ????
RATING:

I absolutely love Paul. A Parisian boulangerie, they’re located in the expat areas of Shanghai and are pretty much visited only by expats, plus a handful of rich (and/or trendy) Shanghainese. They bake fresh bread, pastries, cakes, etc.. and let me just say that I have been multiple times, ordered multiple items, and they are ALWAYS good. Even their plain ‘ol French baguette is good! The only downside is that they have a ridiculous price tag.. think 70? for a small slice of plain mushroom quiche. Still, we relunctantly pay because we love the food.

This was actually our first time dining in, because we were early for our dentist appointment and wanted to just chill out and relax for a bit. Their cold poached salmon with potato salad was actually pretty good. I would have preferred warm, but the salmon had a light buttery flavour and did not need much sauce to be enjoyed. I loved the potato salad it came with – rich and creamy and perfectly chilled.

The Burger with cheese, however, was MINDBLOWING. Seriously, it was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had, and most definitely THE BEST BURGER in Shanghai. The meat was tasty and had no strange bits, and the bun was a bit flat but so buttery on the inside and crisp on the outside. It was absolutely luscious!!!! Holy crap it was good. I could’ve eaten 2 of these babies easily. If you like burgers (and even if you don’t), GET YOUR ASS down to Paul in Shanghai Center (in Jingan) and dig into one of these. I’m making myself hungry just thinking about it now…. mmmmm…. buuuurrrrgerrrrrr…..

Chilling out. It was an awesome day! My tee says
“I LOVE (pic of burger and fries)” – very apt for the occasion πŸ˜‰

Banana caramel latte – sounded so enticing, but it was actually tres strange

Cold poached salmon with potato salad

Burger with cheese – oh nomnomnom!!!
