Me, Uncategorized I’M ON TV 7 May 2009

Well, I can unequivocally say that I am a complete weirdo.

I look weird, I act weird, and I sound weird. *cringe cringe cringe*!! Yep, this was for “Culture Matters” talk show I appeared on, which screened earlier this evening. The whole time, all I could think was “Wow, am I really like this in real life? How the hell do people put up with me?!” Tres freaky deaky!

Sometimes I thought I made some valid points, and at other times I was thinking “I said THAT?!” and wished I said something a little more interesting or engaging. I especially liked how they showed me opening the door of my closet and pulling out clothes, *lol*! Also loved that they showed the furkids, and they did a quick segment on me baking those cupcakes.

Oh, and the camera seriously makes you super fat. That, or I really am fat and just never really noticed. Because I am a total CHUBSTER on TV! It was really horrifying to see.. fat arms and fat face everywhere. We were having a cheesy pasta dinner in front of the TV whilst watching the program, and I lost my appetite immediately after seeing how chunky I looked.

Definitely an experience. A very fun one, however, and I would do it again in an instant. Despite saying some ridiculous things at times, I did enjoy myself and had a blast filming at the TV station. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get the DVD online since it’ll be a massive massive file and uploading here is way too slow…. so if I can’t manage to figure it out, here’s some snapshots!

The topic was:

“Can A Successful Career Woman Also Cook?

Capable Beverly Chua came from Australia to Shanghai to work. Nowadays, females are capable of being remarkable like men, but have to work harder for it. Although both are “successful career women”, Beverly and Vogue’s Angelica Zhang opinions vary, they both wish to be an elegant and virtuous wife and chef.”

Star is a star!

Misty cuddling up to me

Sammy, the host

Me and the Editor in Chief for Vogue magazine

Rambling on about…. something

I thought it was pretty fun to see the Chinese translation of what I was saying

OK I *had* to post this because I look so hilariously stupid πŸ˜‰

It’s quiz time, kids!

Me preparing the cupcake batter

Filling the cupcake cups with the batter

Almost ready to go into the oven

And in they go for 10-15mins!

To get those wide angles with everyone in the picture they tend to sit the camera below head level. So the camera is at an angle where it is looking up at you. Add a wide lens to this and you get an instant 10 pounds on camera. =( They may have just been filming you at really unflattering angles.

I don’t think you look chubby at all though. I watched the video that you filmed after the camera crew left (the one with Star and Misty in it) and you looked fabulous. =) Plus that dress is so pretty! I love the sleeves on it. <3

TV and mirrors do make you look up to 30% plumper.
Anyway you don’t look chubs on TV. Look at the last shot, skinny arms πŸ™‚

I can understand why you feel a tad chubs on camera after being in China for a while. The ladies there are TINY and skinny.
Aside from being thinner, it is also important to be toned and strong. There are some girls who look quite skinny, but their skin and muscle are really “mushy”. πŸ˜›
Congrats! Your hair looks fantastic πŸ˜€
(Ugh, I replied with my other journal -____-. Deleted that comment, signed on my proper journal and re-replied :P)

AWW You look so cute on TV. I used to work for a TV station for a long time and was on a couple commercials (local) here and there and I always HAAAAAAAAAAATED seeing or hearing myself on. I think it’s given we’re our own worst critics. πŸ™‚ You looked great on TV!

The TV does make you look chubbier than usual hey? You don’t look like that in the pictures that you post though. Throw out the TV! Get a non wide screen one! πŸ˜›

1) You’re sooooo not chunky.

2) I freak out if I even *hear* myself (voice mail, etc), can’t imagine seeing myself on tv. I obviously do not use a video cam much.

i SWEAR i was like a chubby midget when i’m in motion! I seriously must look different in photographs or something..

I know what you mean, even hearing myself makes me go *eek*!

noooo you’re not fat! you actually have a really nice figure IMO πŸ˜€

i’ve heard/read somewhere that people on TV look about 10 times fatter/chubbier than they really are in real life heheheh.

Aww thanks, but on the tv i am definitely pretty chubby, it was so depressing to see, heh. So I hope you are right!

I do once I move around, so bad! Hopefully i can figure out how to upload a mega video file.. hmmmm…

oh wow how amazing! I wish i could see it!!! And you don’t look fat at all, maybe its because the widescreen tv has stretched you a bit? I don’t like seeing myself on tv either, I always think I look stupid. It’s probably normal to feel that way πŸ™‚

I’m totally hoping your’e right, haha! But yeah, it’s cringeworthy to see yourself in ‘action’, don’t think i could ever get used to it πŸ˜›

Yeah, I think it’s scary to even see yourself video-taped, all the wierd things you notice about yourself! Haha.

But it’s still pretty cool, such an experience don’t come by often. πŸ˜‰

No, the camera REALLY does add weight. i promise. your not chubs!

oh my gosh this is so amazing! the EIC for vogue! OHHHH!!! πŸ™‚
