Uncategorized I SEE YOOOOOOOUUUUU 20 April 2009

I haven’t checked this blog’s stats in… ages. Maybe a year?? The last time I checked there was around 1,500 hits per day. Then, bored, I decided to have a look and guess how many?

GAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You guys are a global bunch, hailing from from all over the world πŸ™‚ The past 100 visitors came from mostly Asia & Australia (obviously ‘cos of timezone differences):

A freakin’ 3,000 hits per day though?!?! It makes me wonder who everyone is, considering I’ve only got about ~620 people Friend-ing me. Eep. I feel rather exposed now. And somewhat dubious of all these silent lurkers out there. Who are you guys?! Please please be normal and nice people, like the ones already on my Friends list πŸ˜›

Hrm. Though it’s probably time to make more Friends-only locked posts, methinks.

Let’s Chat!

another normal person over here too πŸ˜€

i’ve been reading your stuff off and on since (oh i’m sorry if i bring up old memories) you were with a different boyfriend–i can’t remember his name–but this was way back in the day. i too, love seeing your pictures and we both have makeup as a common interest!

i’m in the US but back then i lived in tx and now i live down the street from ebay headquarters in SJ. haha

but…wow, congrats on your engagement!

WOW 3,000, but then it’s been addictive reading for me since you were at uni, it’s nice to check up and see how you are doing, since you have a much more interesting life than mine I seem to live vicariously through you πŸ˜‰

Hehe I think other people have more interesting lives, I guess the grass is always greener on the other side! πŸ˜›

Congrats

Congrats on the increase in hits. πŸ™‚

But I can understand that you kinda feel exposed. Maybe making picture posts friends-only is the best way going forward.

By the way, I’m based in Ireland and have been a reader and occasional commenter for the last couple of years.

Re: Congrats

Yeah, I wouldn’t mind as long as people said hi and just didn’t lurk!
man i want go to to ireland one day πŸ™‚

I have never shown your page to anyone, much as I’d like to. I respect your privacy and the gift of being your virtual friend. As I have told you many times before, your photographic eye is incredible, and I share your love of accessories as well.

I think a lot of it is people checking once at work and once at home, and people who might check more than once a day with IP addy which change but are similar. So don’t get too scared by the numbers but be flattered. It’s a tribute to what a good writer you are and how blessed you are in life to have much to show and tell.

If you had anyone reading who shouldn’t be you’d already know it as they would harass you away from here.

Ah yeah, it counts unique visitors but if people look from different computers it will log em separately, good point! I don’t mind lots of people, but wish they would just say “hi”, it makes it less daunting πŸ˜›

Hello,

Like everyone else, just trying to assure you of my normalacy. I’m from Canada, and just like your food blog and reading about new places!

Hhaha noooo you’re giving me artificial hits! πŸ˜‰ Nah it is unique visitors so it strips out the people that love to revisit, hehe

Congrats

I think I would consider myself normal

Hi Beverly I live in Sydney and have been reading your posts for the past year, especially since I had my little bub. Am a huge foodie fan but I don’t get out much anymore so I love hearing about all the food places you visit. Your posts have such a fantastic postive energy, they always bring a smile to my face…hence I keep reading. Hope that is okay. I can understand why you might feel overexposed, hey it makes me sort of nervous de-lurking myself at the moment. I know it is rather selfish but please don’t stop posting!

Re: I think I would consider myself normal

Awww sadly no more Sydney food places, I miss it so much!

And thanks for saying hi πŸ™‚

Hello,

Like everyone else, just trying to assure you of my normalacy. I’m from Canada, and just like your food blog and reading about new places!

I’m addicted, what can I say? πŸ™‚

Loving the food posts for sure…I miss going out and having a proper meal now with a little bubba to look after.

On a side note, I love your Hello Kitty gloss! I really struggle knowing how to apply makeup,so some makeup posts would be fab too…if you have the time! πŸ˜‰

I havn’t done makeup/fashion posts in ages, i know! I am so out of the loop.. esp now in Shanghai it’s not as easy (or cheap) to get all the stuff I want. Boooooooo!

Hhaha noooo you’re giving me artificial hits! πŸ˜‰ Nah it is unique visitors so it strips out the people that love to revisit, hehe

I’ve been quiet but doesn’t mean I’m not reading your blog and I don’t want to be known as a silent lurker !

Good to see you having lotsa fun in Shanghai. I hope wedding preparations are well underway for your wedding.

I’m not quite sure how I stumbled upon your blog, but you’ve seemed like a nice girl who had a fascinating way of documenting her life. I always looked forward to your restaurant entries, because I love trying/learning about new recipes and ingredients.

My name is Vanessa, by the way. I’m based in the states, and just enjoy reading! However, I would agree about making some of your entries friends only (especially your picture posts) based on all of your hits. πŸ™‚

Hey hon! Aww you’re on my friends list too so i know ya and definitely not freaked out. More like the nameless faceless people that drift past – a bit strange!

Hmm I need to do more recipes soon, it’s so tough to get my ass into gear, cos food is so cheap here, heh

Saw your blog through ickleoriental’s blog…I think I’m normal too…

Been following it since you were in Sydney. I’m living in Melb and travel to Sydney for work quite often, so I like to read about the different places you frequent in Sydney..gives me ideas and I can connect with these places too since I might have been to a few of them!!

Now that you’ve moved to Shanghai, it gives me more foodie ideas and I will need to visit these places next time I visit Shanghai πŸ™‚

I’ve been a lurker for almost 10 years now, which I think might qualify me as a “professional lurker.” I always think of making comments but then never seem to actually do it. So… I’m a professional lurker that lacks ambition? Sounds about right πŸ˜›

Just a quick one, your site meter probably doesn’t count those viewing your entries on their friends page does it? so wouldn’t that suggest that the 3000 people who visit you daily are probably not on your friends list… so you’re even more popular than that! πŸ™‚

Also, I think I’m normal. I’ve been reading your LJ for as long as I can remember πŸ™‚

Very boring and normal person here. I cannot remember when or why I started reading your blog. Could be when you posted something about Shanghai. But I continued reading because of your food posts. And now, I’m totally obsessed about the Proenza Schouler Bag you blogged about.

nooo i know you so you don’t count πŸ˜›
i am obsessed too but I can’t find the Medium one in the midnight blue *cries*, and next season’s colours aren’t nice at all!

Re: hey that;s me

Man, I love CA. Our headquarters is in SJ and I always try to stop over in LA and SF whilst I’m there!

I’m a nice, normal person, I’d like to think. πŸ™‚ You added me as a friend recently, but I lurked for several years first simply out of laziness to create a lj account and feeling like I might be imposing on you by requesting that you be “friends” with me as I was a complete stranger. I first heard of you from MUA several years ago and started following your journal because your life had so many similarities to mine (i.e. same age, long-term bf, the process of finishing college and then building a career, a love/hate relationship with exercising, an appreciation of fine food and drink, and love for balenciaga handbags), YET you were living halfway across the world from my existence in Hawaii. It was (and still is) fascinating!

That IS pretty cool that we’re so similiar πŸ™‚ Except you live in a WAY cooler place.. i love love hawaii, but i was last there 10 years ago so I’m sure it would’ve changed heaps!

I’ve been quiet but doesn’t mean I’m not reading your blog and I don’t want to be known as a silent lurker !

Im normal i promise! I think i found your journal when i was researching Balenciaga hand bags, i liked it and started reading regularly. Im fashion obsessed and love your style πŸ™‚
Hope its ok!

hi bev
i’ve been following you since you had your own domain? gypsy? and then diaryland
and now here. so it’s been since i was in high school

i rarely comment since it’s a pain since i don’t have a livejournal but i’ve commented maybe 5 times through the years

yeah i’m now 25!

um i still remember your gypsy layout. that was the hook for me. your layouts because i was very much into webdesign.
you also had a different boyfriend!
crazy right?

Heya…you’ve been on my “friends” list since we chatted once on makeupalley. I stopped updating for a while and I think you de-friended me while I was MIA. πŸ™‚ I still love reading your restaurant posts and fashion/beauty stuff. I’m in the US, btw.

Not a weirdo!

Not a weirdo; promise! I think I began following you back when I had LiveJournal ages ago, but I’ve since moved to Blogger (proseccoandlemonade.blogspot.com). I can’t ask to friend you, otherwise I would! I really enjoy your food and fashion posts, but totally understand that you’d want to make your life more private. Congrats (since I haven’t said it before) on your engagement!

Re: Not a weirdo!

LJ frustrates me cos it’s technically blocked in China, but I like the community/friends feel of it that Blogspot doesn’t! I’m contemplating just placing my blog on my own dmain but it feels too… alone πŸ˜›

Hello!
I am one of the (possibly?) many strangers to you. I love your page and I have been reading it for 3 years now πŸ™‚
I am a mum of two from England and I love to read about everything you do, the places you visit etc. I get a lot of recipe ideas from your beautiful food pictures… am thinking about investing in a waffle maker recently!
Please don’t stop posting things publicly, I would really miss your updates!
xxxxxx

England! You are half way across the world from me πŸ™‚

Ohh your kids will love the waffle iron – mine comes with 3 plates, one to make toastie sandwiches, 1 for waffles, 1 for grilling (meat/fish/etc). So if you can find a multi-use one like that, it’s worth the $$!
