FOOD, Friends, Uncategorized THE LAST FAREWELL @ GILROYS 16 January 2009

About 12 of us met up for ONE LAST FAREWELL DINNER.. basically our closest friends and the ones that we’ll miss the most. A few couldn’t make it, but at least most were there.. despite Chris and I being very unorganised and only got around to planning it at the very last minute. It was held on our 2nd last night in Sydney, and we opted for the most Australian dinner you can get – Gilroy’s pub! We were keen to get our last taste of good ‘ol Aussie food before we head off to China-land, and so we gorged on steaks, calamari, fries, etc, etc. Boy it was good. I savoured every morsel, because I know it’ll be awhile before I get fantastic, cheap, Aussie food again.

Chris was clever and booked a long table for us – excellent, considering the place was packed and we’d have gotten turned away otherwise. It was AWESOME to see everyone, though I didn’t get to talk enough with everyone around the table.. I’d need a whole day for that! πŸ˜› Boy I’m going to miss these guys. I try not to really focus on it, so I haven’t been melancholy or homesick. I think I’m very good at denial and pretending everything is fine πŸ˜‰

We were originally going to all have an early night, but ended up sleeping at nearly 2am (!!!!!!!). Why? Because we’re insane. Nah, because I asked everyone over to my place since I had a bunch of stuff that I wasn’t bringing to Shanghai – dining table set, coffee table, loads of food/sauces, washing liquids, cutlery, etc, etc. A TON of stuff. I also threw out another metric ton of stuff, but these were the things that I thought could go to a good home. So we managed to clear everything out, which was brilliant!

And so began the process of getting it all over to people’s places, etc. Funny thing is, there are 6 apartments that my friends and I live in that are all within walking distance or a few min car ride from each other. It’s like we all live in a little village or something, we just gravitate towards each other πŸ˜‰ We ended up shuttling stuff between 3 apartments, a hilarious feat since we only had 1 car πŸ˜‰ The boys carried some of the stuff, the girls crammed into the car with more stuff, etc. It was like a comedy series of crazy people… considering it was now around 1am (!!) and we were carrying furniture around – like we’d just raided/stolen from an apartment. Hah! Good times.

MAN I AM GONNA MISS YOU GUYS!!!!! *snuffles*

Happy campers. The last time we would all have dinner together πŸ™

All crammed into the car, with my poor Gucci bag all jammed with stuff and looking unhappy
