I was randomly walking past on the way home when I noticed a cluster of people queueing for something. My herd instinct immediately took over and I craned my neck trying to have a sticky-beak to see what the fuss was all about. Found out that this little window nestled between the shopfronts was actually cooking food! Peered closer and my heart nearly stopped – the lady was frying up what looked like roti prata!!!! A quick look at their menu plastered above said that the fillings were choices of bacon, ham, egg, cheese, etc, etc. Kind of like a pizza or a hotdog, but wrapped up in a roti prata. Tres weird, and definitely warranted a try!

I eagerly asked for the egg and cheese. And I still don’t know what they call these things by the way.. so I’m just going to continue calling them roti prata πŸ˜‰ She cooked up the roti prata, then cracked an egg on the hot grill next to it, placed a slice of cheese on top, and whacked the prata on top of it, drizzling it all with a squiggle of tomato sauce. A few moments later, the prata was deftly rolled up and popped into a paper bag.

These little babies are HOT! Temperature, that is. And it’s a fantastic snack when it’s freezing cold.. cos you can hold the paper bag with both your hands as you nibble at it, to keep yourself warm. That’s what I did πŸ™‚ It’s absolutely delicious – like a new variation of prata. Like traditional roti prata crossed with pizza/hot dog. A new taste, and so delicious! I am a big big fan. I can’t remember, but I think this was 6? (US$0.90). Ridiculously cheap, absolutely tasty, snack food. YUM!

A hole-in-the-wall. Literally.

Peering closer, was delighted to see roti prata!!!!
