That Alannah Hill dress is seriously beautiful! I want it!!

BTW, I always wondered, since you say AH fits you so well – what size in AH do you wear? I bought a really cute AH skirt/top combo last summer because it was on ridiculous sale at DJs, but I got the skirt in an 8 and it was a smidge loose, and the top was in a 6 but it was a smidge too tight… Do the sizes range much between different styles of AH clothing?

Also, I can’t find the entry of yours where I was commenting about the hairdressers in China (if you remember!) – but I also meant to tell you to make sure to check out Chinese massage parlours. They are AMAZING. 1 hr reflexology massages for 25 yuan (although too ticklish on my thighs), 2 hour facial + full body massage for 10 yuan (or you could get an annual pass, where you can have as many facials/massages as you like, for 300 yuan) and I also had this 2.5 hour Tibetan fire massage for 85 yuan!! Basically, they gave me a full body massage with wonderful oils etc, then they put a Tibetan medicine-ointment type thing on my back and covered my back with glad wrap, then they put a moist towel across my back and lit it on fire! (So the medicine could absorb into my skin better) They lit the towel on fire a couple of times, it felt so nice and toasty πŸ™‚ It was so great, I have been dreaming about another Tibetan fire massage ever since… I am so jealous you are going to be living in Shanghai!! I wish I could too!!

I’m a size 6 or 8 in Alannah Hill.. it used to be perfectly in a size 8 but recently they’ve enlarged all the sizes so now I’m their size 6. The pure silk ones with no zip/elastic will be easily tight cos it’s sometimes tough to get em over shoulders.. I find though that whatever I buy in their sz 6 fits me exactly now πŸ™‚

Oooh which massage place did you go to? That sounds awesome! I want to get to one that’s tried and tested so we know it’s not dodgy, heh πŸ™‚

oh my gosh, i want most of the things in the last photo!
were they all bought from ebay?
the geek glass is perfect for my IT friend πŸ˜›

Nah from thinkgeek, my colleagues and i all shared shipping and ordered a bunch of stuff

I’m LOVING the geek glass, it’s so cool and functional!

The Disney Couture wrap bracelet is so funky. The other colours are really nice too – I love the Alice in Wonderland blue one

I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to get things shipped to China, they have a really crazy online market here (given the population AND the level of internet addiction of most young people) so it shouldn’t be a problem. It’s funny in China, they have Chinese versions of all our online things (including their own version of eBay, can’t remember what it’s called, taobao? toubao? NOT that you’d shop on there of course, just thought I’d mention it in case you weren’t aware of it!). A booming “fakes” market online hehehe!

Also (although you’re probably sick of all my little bits of advice and tips, sorry I love giving advice but I’ll stop if you want!) it’s pretty cold in Shanghai in January, most people wear thermals in winter and big coats, so you’ll want to be prepared for that. I know Sydney does not get this cold, and it’s a biting kind of cold that we don’t get as much in Australia. Don’t let that freak you out, but just letting you know so you’re prepared! They do have all kinds of great winter clothes here (Chinese brands are affordable, and the Korean ones too, it’s the American/European ones you have to watch out for – and Aussie brands there aren’t any that I’ve seen) in all the stores, some really cute things! :o)

I don’t know if all online stores will ship to China or if mail is very safe there? have you had any issues? Reckon I’ll be shopping from eBay USA and AU a lot more than the China one.. I assume i could get most of the stuff there in the stores anyway πŸ˜›

I’m so scared of the cold, and we’re moving mid-jan so I’ll be snap frozen πŸ™ I’ll have to buy winter clothes in China I think!

And i LOVE LOVE LOVE all your advice! You have no idea how helpful it is.. thanks so much *hugs*

it’s gonna be freezing in jan! i hope you have some winter wear. if u can get hold of Uniqlo Heatttech stuff off ebay, get some. they’re the best thermals!

1 heattech tee plus 1 cashmere sweater plus jacket is enough for 0deg.

Don’t worry, you’ll be able to find loads and loads of coats in Shanghai when you get there! You’d have to get a feather down coat, they are the warmest. I wouldn’t have survived without mine during Chinese winters πŸ™‚

But guess what, LJ is now accessable in China!!!! So everyone can be happy again πŸ™‚
