Festivals, Uncategorized SYDNEY ITALIAN FESTIVAL 2008 3 June 2008

We headed out to the Sydney Italian Festival despite the weather looking pretty drizzly and dreary.. and it was just as well we did, since the weather quickly cleared up and it turned out to be a pretty decent day after all, whew!! This festival is apparently one of the biggest ones in Sydney, though I don’t really see how since it was busy but not that crowded. Perhaps it was because everything’s out in the open so it seems more spacious?

All the various cafes and restaurants along the street throw open their doors for the Italian Festival, and there are also a bunch of stalls dotted up and down the street featuring Italian goodies. I wish they was a wider selection or more stalls, as the offerings ran out pretty quickly :X But we got a chance to sample local Italian food and desserts which I don’t tend to get often around where I live.

We met up with my French friends there and shared a few Italian snacks/desserts, before deciding we were hungry and headed to Bill & Toni’s for a hearty Italian lunch. Seemed like everyone else had the same idea, since the place was packed to the brim! We did manage to get a table fairly quickly though, and the meals were served at record speed – probably because they have a really selected menu and everything’s already cooked and ready in the kitchen. No problem for us, as everything was still fresh and hot – probably because of the super high turnover that afternoon.

Sydney Italian Festival 2008

The day started off a bit rainy and dreary…

All snuggled up

But then the sun came out. Hurray!!

Farm fresh apples and oranges

Zucchini flowers – I’ve never eaten these before, I don’t think

Just us πŸ™‚

Loads of fresh veggies for sale

And pastries too

Mum and Dad bought a loaf of sourdough bread here. I made some
creamy scrambled eggs to go on top of it. OMG it was divine!!!

Mum buys some lovely fresh mushrooms

Chris and I are dressed alike HAHA

We got a free pot plant each. Yay!

Big fat donuts and cannelloni. We had a custard-filled donut. YUMMMM

Italian band music

Amused by something or other

People milling around eating outdoors

Me and (yet another!) French girl friend

We adjourned to Bill and Toni’s for an Italian lunch

Awesomely buttery garlic bread :)~

Delicious Osso Bucco and Spaghetti

Lamb Liver *shudders*

My big fat Meatballs and Spaghetti – delicious!

Us! Minus the French guy friend that took this pic πŸ˜›

Headed outside for a cup of Italian coffee

Check out that massive saucepan of mussels… mmmm..

Loads of (scary looking) sausages

My girl friend and I eagerly checking out the Mushroom and Truffle Risotto

Oooh la la!!

We couldn’t resist, so we bought some!

Ohhhh it was GOOOD πŸ™‚

All the food looks delicious. I like the poster of Italian festival – riding a Vespa is quintessientially what I think of when I think Italy.

Ooooh all that food looks YUMMY! Except for the liver.. that’s a bit scary hahah. What does it taste like? Ugh I’m hungry now:P Also, next to the donuts is cannoli (cannelloni is pasta) πŸ™‚

What foundation are you wearing? Your skin looks awesome, especially in the 7th-ish picture hehehe πŸ™‚

I think fois gras is fine but dunno if this liver was different.. it was too strange for me to risk it πŸ˜‰

I use Sofina’s raycious foundation which is really light, that’s why I like it. And I also use Jane Iredale’s pressed powder which also gives light coverage so the skin can breathe! πŸ™‚

guess what, i’ve been stuck in Sydney for 24Hrs on transit because of stupid Qantas!!! gonna blog about it now. Some of the other passengers have called the radio station and it is on air now.

Ohhh BOO! I did hear about some sort of strike going on with Qantas but thought that was a few days ago. So crappy.. I hope it gets resolved ASAP!!

’twas around the Surry Hills/East Sydney area I believe! And yes, you have sharp eyes hehe.. we were joking about “italian flavoured sushi” that they MUST be serving ROFL!

Hahaha sushi topped with Marinara / Alfredo sauce hmmmm doesn’t sound bad at all lol. Actually here they something called sushi lasagna.. there you go

What’s this? Bev actually wearing winter clothing? 16 degree temperatures should be no excuse for not wearing your standard kit of micro skirts and tops. Soft…..
