Upstairs at The Argyle

Us girls!
Super cute French couple
Hrmmm
We left at around 7pm to head to the Singapore Heritage Restaurant for dinner.. because I was keen for everyone to check out the place and also to see if we should have our Engagement Party there. Decked on in red, black and gold, the restaurant is a bit like an opium den.. complete with sparkling fairy lights. Call it opulent or call it cheesy, I still think it’s pretty cool 🙂 It’s unfortunately out of the City, however, which was why Chris gave it the thumbs down for our Engagement Party.
We opted for the a la carte menu since we could select more choices, and I found the food a bit hit and miss. The hits were really good, but other dishes were nice but fairly standard. I’d consider it super $$$ for a Singaporean restaurant – I think 70% of the cost goes towards the decor 😉 Service was fantastic though – very friendly and flexible.
All red and black in the Singapore Heritage Restaurant

And decorated with lots of tiny lights and candles
The 3 boys
The 3 girls
Completely random and blurry
Classy
Um..
*speechless*
Finally a good looking person!
Super cute!
Really not a good look on me
Eggplant Tempura with Honey Soy dipping sauce.
Sounds standard enough but it was so crisp and tender!
Orange Duck Salad with Crunchy Lotus Root dressed with Zesty Sesame Sauce
Really nice but too small a portion
Caviar and Crabmeat Congee
Sounds expensive and decadent, but all we tasted was super-strong black pepper..
Chilli Soft Shell Crap Spaghetti
OK totally not Singaporean, but I loved this dish
Heritage Beef Rice
One of my favourite dishes. It was so smoky and tasty!
Belachan Crispy Fish
I thought it was a bit too dry and the spicy belachan nearly killed me 😉
He must have no tastbuds left or something
Tempura Prawns with Mayonnaise
These had a brilliant flavour, loved it!
Mee Goreng
Hilarious that it costs $20 when it costs $3 (or less) in Singapore. Tasty though!
Yummy!
Bellies full
Getting really tired…
Banana Fritters with Honey and Ice Cream
Absolutely awesome!!
We very artfully rearranged it…..

People whom refuse to eat their spicy fish heads are just soft….. the opposite to the over excited fried banana that obviously had no control over itself.
