Festivals, Friends, Uncategorized SURRY HILLS FESTIVAL 2008 16 April 2008

Spent a lovely day at Surry Hills Festival over the weekend, just chilling out with friends and pottering around the stalls. This is what I love most about Sydney – the fabulous festivals, fairs and events.. out in the open and under sunny blue skies. It doesn’t get much better than that!

Chris and I had a bit (okay, a HUGE) pig out due to my lack of self-control and total over-estimation about what we could eat… oops! Hehe. I picked up whatever I thought looked good, so we ended up with 4 dishes between the 2 of us.. But hey, it was worth it. I ADORE food at festivals and it was all delish!

I was pretty well-behaved and controlled my spending, so only purchased a Bush Essentials body wash, which is self-foaming and smells AMAZING – better than any other body wash I’ve tried in a long time. It’s a strong blend of lemon myrtle and patchouli, and the scent lingers in the shower and on your skin for a long long long time afterwards. It’s awesome πŸ™‚ Now I wish I’d bought the body moisturizer to lock it all in and make the scent last longer!

OMG Campos Coffee had a stand there! I’ve been gagging to try it, it’s rated as the BEST
coffee in Sydney. After having a Vanilla Latte, I can confidently say that YES THIS IS TRUE!!!

Lots of stalls near the entrance

MASSIVE paella! I got the $10 Spanish tasting plate here… mmm..

The Spanish tasting plate. It was delish!

Salt & Pepper calamari, by far my favourite. Though it was ridiculously $$, at $9 for that tiny box!

Hot chips with tomato sauce for $2

Turkish gozleme with mince beef, onion, capsicum and mushrooms! $10. With fresh lemonade, $4.

Happy munchkins in the warm sun

Chris reckons this is a more indicative pic of us: where we’re either
scrabbling in our bag for something, or taking photos of something πŸ˜‰

Strange boys

Loads of people taking advantage of the warm sunshine

Headed to the pub afterwards for some afternoon drinks

Then it was off to Passion Flower to satisfy our sweet-tooth cravings

It’s a cyber-looking Japanese-inspired dessert cafe. Terribly overpriced too πŸ˜‰

They have a brilliant, pictorial menu though

Coconut ice cream and Vanilla & Hazelnut ice cream in waffle cup

Waffle with caramelised banana and Sticky Rice ice cream and Lychee & Rose Syrup ice cream

Waffle with maple syrup and Black Sesame ice cream and Cookies & Cream ice cream

i cant help but drool over your b-bag each time i see it. how many b-bags do you have now? i notice you use this most often!

Errr TOO MANY haha! And so many other bags too, but I just never use ’em cos I”m too attached to this magenta B πŸ˜›

I’m into aromatherapy. Lemon, myrtle, and patchouli seem intriging together.

Ice cream and waffles are one of my favorite dessert concoctions in the summertime!

It’s hard to describe the scent.. but it’s zesty but still warm. Very very very nice, and I LOVE how it lingers on the skin long afterwards!

ohhhhh happened to just bumped into your page. How you don’t mind. Great pictures! I can’t help but notice your sunnies. Could you tell me the brand and model?

thanks in advance!

Hey hon! They’re by Lisa Ho, an Australian designer, but dunno the model (they don’t have many models though so shouldn’t be hard to find).. I like em cos they’re big, but they’re metal so they have those little nose bridge thingys (the plastic ones don’t stay well on me cos I have no nose bridge πŸ˜› ) Plus the sides have little sparkly diamantes, yay!

ahhhhh! i love it! but definitely going to be hard to find for me since i live in the US. nothing pops up on ebay also. boo hoo!

thanks anyways, enjoy it in good health.

Hahah that was DEFINITELY the case when I went round buying all that food.. it was all too good to resist πŸ˜›

Aww thank you! I am completely addicted to it, to the point where I don’t use allll my other bags, I love this one too much πŸ˜›

My favourite ice cream was the black sesame one, it’s always got the most awsome flavour!

that ice cream dish you get in Bangkok sounds sooooooooooooooo goodo OMG

AHHH!
everything in this post looked so delicious, but the waffle w/ caramelized bananas really made me start drooling πŸ˜›
and sticky rice ice cream?? that sounds unbelievable.
in bangkok we have these guys who ride around on bicycles and serve coconut ice cream in hot dog buns over warm sticky rice.

oh and your balenciaga bag is looking lovely in the sun πŸ™‚

Oh man I’m a sucker for Gozlemes. I really wonder why on earth they don’t sell them at more places? Why can’t you buy fresh gozlemes at Kebab shops? Why can one only get them from stalls and carts at fairs or exhibitions or marketplaces?

Why why why????

Ahhhh but you see, I know a place that makes gozleme right there, they’re the ones that appear at fairs/festivals as well (though the fresh one that they make at this place is better cos it comes with waaaay more ingredients). It’s a secret as to where it is, but we can double-date there cos I know Erica would wanna go to that place too πŸ˜‰

ohhh i love passionflower the presentation is always so pretty! i usually go to the one near capitol theatre and i looove the texture of the sticky rice icecream!
