I’m totally in denial about you moving back to SG πŸ™‚

The resort looks AMAZING. i can’t believe they’re sending you there. You know where my regional summit is this year? Sydney. That’s right. Sigh.

HK – isn’t the Strawberry.net store there? I hear it is and they have huge bargains instore.

Well…. so far I haven’t moved back yet, despite proclamations that I will for 2 years now, so i guess we’ll see how it goes πŸ˜›

Man you lucked out with the regional summit LOL! But think about it, all your intl counterparts are probably over the moon about it, everyone loves visiting sydney πŸ˜€

I had no idea strawberrynet had an actual store in HK.. hrmmmm I’ll have to check it out. Lemme know if you want anything from HK btw! Besides a snow globe.. which I’ll look out for πŸ˜› (i did look for it in SG but obviously snow-things and SG don’t really mix, so they didn’t exist!)

that’s awesome! Can you do something along the lines of taking a career break rather than quitting? That way you could keep all the other benefits you’ve accrued (like long service leave πŸ˜› )

I do’nt think we have that, unfortunately πŸ™ as it’s fully off work for a year. I think they will support if it’s a month or so, but that’s about the most πŸ™

i’m just going to admit that i’m painfully jealous of this trip to switzerland. sigh.

get ebay to pay for your mba. get it out of the way before you and chris get married and/or have babies. there are 2 benefits of this: 1. well duh, it’s FREE. and 2. b/c the company’s invested so much into you, they’ll be more likely to hire you back and move up the ‘ladder’

It’s loads of work though, that’s the part I don’t write much about when I’m away on business, since it bores everyone πŸ˜› But it’s like 90% of the trip!

I doubt eBay would pay for the full MBA.. it’s just so $$ and you have to be completely out of the workforce for the year, it’s just so much to ask πŸ™

Ooo fantastic! I fly into Geneva but will take the train to Leukerbad.. i heard it’s a scenic trip so I have high hopes πŸ˜€

MBA! go for it!! hey, you might not necessarily NEED it now but it’ll be nice to have for a “rainy day”. Plus, with a higher education and the possibility of furthering your career, think of ALL the doors that will open for you. And think of all the extra skills and experience you can acquire from it.

I know in my field, EVERYONE aims for a higher degree whenever the possibility arises (especially when they’re still young…it’s harder going back to school after a while). They say 20* years from now everyone is going to have an MBA (or the like in their respective fields) because of the concern with competition.

Don’t settle because you’re comfortable, STRIVE because you CAN! :o)

okay, that’s my little spiel for today. good luck!!

Hehe you’re a great cheerleader! I am VERY tempted to do my MBA, but it all boils down to whether I really should quite my current role to do it. Things are going well, so it’s pretty tough to turn my back on it all :X Even if I do it, it’ll be in about 1-2yrs when I’m back in SG, so I think it’ll become more of a reality then!

have fun with the trip! it sounds like lotsa fun! and i’ll be waiting for your shopping and eating review of hongkong cos i’ll be going on 12th March πŸ™‚

Ooo good timing, hehe! I’ll be in Central but my trip’s only a few days, so don’t think I’ll get much eating/shopping done πŸ™

Those trips look fantastic.

I think if I went to Hong Kong, I’d stock up on jeans/pants – then I wouldn’t have to take them up by 4 inches, like I do with my sass and bides!

Congrats-I often though about a Masters, MBA, and now instead have gone the JD route. So envious of your trip to HK and the Spa as i’m stuck studying inside…take some great pictures for all of us lj viewers!

Holy frick!!! Have an awesome time at the Summit, love. That place looks absolutely incredible *googly eyes*

Good luck with the decision, I reckon you could make anything work that you set your heart on, but still lots of things to weigh up. Wish I knew what to say to help!

Ooo glad to see you online πŸ™‚ I have Sex and the City boxset btw, dyou want me to bring it over tmw?

The MBA choice is tough.. I haven’t made the decision yet.. I think I’ll let it ‘stew’ for a coupla years!

Wow, the resort in Switzerland looks beautiful. I can’t wait for your posts in Hong Kong and Switzerland. As for an MBA, pretty big decision. I think after being the work force for so long, it would be difficult to go back to school because I would crave money all the time.

I’ll definitely post heaps.. I’m going to be the craziest tourist there πŸ˜‰

I agree about leaving work to study, it’s going to be a real shock.. i’m not sure yet :X

The fun/personal stuff that we add on before and after the summit is great, but the actual work is just like if we were anywhere else, since it’s in a room.. doh! πŸ˜›

Wow, huge huge decisions to make. Good luck with that! I’m sure you’d make the right decision in the end. Btwn those two choices, I’d choose MBA also. πŸ™‚

Ooooh, enjoy yourself during those trips. Envy envy.

Ahh, that resort looks lovely! How (visually) strange to see people swimming amongst the snow, lol!

You can’t work on your MBA and stay working at ebay Aus? Even if it takes you two years instead of 1 or something, I think that’d be worth it. Of course, you don’t always need a degree to reach high. My mom had no college degree and got really high up there in the ranks because of her experience/work ethic, etc. I really don’t know how those things work with ebay though. πŸ™‚

Hahah yeah when I saw it i was like 0_o
It looks fun though!

I can’t do my MBA in australia.. none are internally recognised and none of the schools even make it in the Top 10 in the world, bah! You don’t *need* it either at eBay but it’s generally a nice-to-have, especially on the Director and MD level..

OOOh. The hotel looks sinfully wonderful! I’m sure Chris and yourself will have loads of fun.

I think it’s going to be difficult to quit your job seeing how much you’re enjoying it.

I really hope CHris can find the time to come.. it’ll be such a cool change to our regular lives!

Yeah, right now I can’t imagine quitting my role here, I really do love it. But time will tell..!

take your time to decide πŸ™‚ Hehehee. Though i must say the moment you mention MBA.. the local uni that came through my mind for you was SMU πŸ™‚

There’s no way I can do an MBA here.. none are very internationally recognised like the ones in Harvard, Insead, London business school, etc.. so I’ll have to go to one of those instead! But they’re all overseas so it’ll be a pretty big move for me :X

It’s mainly because my channel is growing pretty quickly since it’s new at eBay.. so it requires special attention and planning, I do love it though πŸ™‚

WOW! I’m so excited for all you, all these new amazing possibilities opening up!

you’ll love hong kong! they have great kinds of food from everywhere.

I guess it’s really different from the usual locations, and I probably wouldn’t go there myself if it weren’t for work.. so it all works out πŸ˜›

Nice looking resort!

Why not stay and do the MBA here? AGSM and the MGSM are two great schools that offer a real good program.

I was considering that but they’re not even listed in the Top 10 MBA schools in the world πŸ™ They’re well recognised in AU but not really recognised internationally so I”ll probably go for Insead which is. Except it’s also more $$.. arghh!!

Oh yes, I hate you too, Bev! How come you get to go to such nice places in the name of work?!? Soaking in the hot hot waters amidst the snow, argh, that’s so dreamy!

We seriously are locked away in a room during the summit though, which will be painful, but at least we have the weekend there, hee πŸ™‚

love hk for its delish food n great shopping. i won’t recommend the yung kee flying goose cos i feel they are stuck up & have horrid service standards. there are other goose restaurants out there. must go for hk wantons. they are huge compared to the ickle lumps we get in sg. also wld recommend the sheraton’s silver tea leaves ribs, their lobster har gao. and you must have the HLS mango desserts while there! i hope this marks the end of the spell of bad luck you had earlier this year. take care & enjoy yourself!

Ooo I’d love to try the wantons! I hope I’m near the Sheraton then I can check out their food too, thanks for all the recs πŸ˜€

you’ll find horrid service all over HK unfortunately. yung kee’s goose is super well known for a reason…a definite must visit Bev! if you wind up in Shenzhen for whatever reason, there’s a place with amazing pork knuckles that are a must try too.

Yeah, the service staff was hovering around waiting for us to finish our food.. we felt so rushed.
There was a old Japanese couple at the next table, and the gentleman got up to go to the washroom.
The YK staff ran after him saying “Money, money, pay money!” o_0

After that incident I now go to Shatin or Taiwai for my roast goose fix πŸ™‚

oh it’s definitely quite common…i think i’ve been here for long enough that i just ignore the terrible restaurant service unless it’s exceptionally bad, even by HK standards!

The knees are ok, as long as I dont go too hard on them! I’m not a snow/ski type person though so I’m a bit afraid πŸ˜›

Wow that resort looks absolutely gorgeous! I want to get a job like yours so I can travel as much as you! *jealous* <33

NNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I’m in Tokyo that weekend for work…21-24 Feb, back in HK on the night of the 24th. What about during the week?

Ohhhhh d’oh!! I can’t during the week as we have events on every day :X But at least you’ll be in Toyko.. oo you’ll love it!
