After the eBay Christmas Party, that ended in the wee hours of the morning, I had to drag myself up at 7am(!!) as I’d promised Chris I’d go to Dee Why with him to watch him do his lifesaving training. Yes, he’s going to be one of those Aussie beach bums wearing red and yellow on the beach πŸ˜› It’s good exercise and a healthy hobby, so I’m all for it! Anyway, we wanted to have breakfast beforehand, hence the absurdly-early morning start.

Chris is a regular at Seachange Cafe, but it was my first time there. It’s a tiny, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cafe situated right on the beach, overlooking the ocean. It’s very typically North Shore – couples and families having a relaxing morning and (expensive) breakfast right by the beach πŸ˜‰ It was fun, especially since I don’t get to do that often! Their food is awesome. I’m normally never impressed with breakfast places as they all seem quite similar to me. We had the Acai (pronounced ahh-sahh-hee) which looked a bit scary at first – the Acai itself is dark and sludgy at the bottom, not very enticing at all. It tastes brilliant though! It’s like a smooth fruit sorbet, very sweet and loads of flavour. Kind of like eating ice cream in the morning, but being healthy at the same time πŸ˜› The accompanying fruit was really ripe, juicy and fresh, mmmmm.

Also had Scrambled Eggs on Turkish Bread which came in a sizeable portion and was tasty but not stand-out. I did appreciate the big pat of butter to drench my toast in though πŸ˜‰ Their Mocha with Marshmallows is definitely a treat. Rich, indulgent and creamy, it’s a bit of a sugar-hit but well worth the calories. All mochas should come with marshmallows, IMHO!

It was a fabulous, casual breakfast.. then Chris got to spend the next 1-2 hours running/swimming like a crazy person, while I sat down and read magazines like a lazy person. Hah!
