Living in... Australia, Uncategorized BLUE MOUNTAINS – Day 3 11 December 2007

Kicked off Sunday with a very, erm, healthy (or not!) breakfast at Cup Cakery, which came highly recommended by friends. It’s similar to Cupcakes On Pitt in the city here, but better because they have cooler flavours and more moist cupcakes :)~ They have a huge variety, just check out the Flavours link on their website! Finally settled on the Double Chocolate Cupcake with Chocolate Icing and Chocolate M&Ms – whew! It came with a lovely hot Mocha and was the biggest sugar rush of the day πŸ˜‰ Decadent but absolutely delicious.

No idea what I’m doing…

Super grumpy mid-action shot

Us in front of these yellow flowers that were growing everywhere!!

I had to crop this pic of me, as Chris aimed it right up my skirt! Arghhhhh

Oodles of cupcakes

Cute local arts&crafts markets nearby

Mmm… hot mocha..

It was then off to do some bushwalking! We unfortunately would’ve loved to have bushwalked more, but we didn’t have enough time since the holiday wasn’t very long πŸ™ The good thing was that the weather was really lovely though, really hot and sunny and no rain! Hooray! It also meant that we were sweating like pigs, especially on the way back when we had to climb back up the massive mountain *whew*. Loads of fun though, and gave us some much-needed exercise πŸ˜‰

Oh look I found a sexy man

Cute ‘lil white flowers

Us!

Mmmm πŸ™‚

It took a LOT for me to stand here for this pic, ‘cos I’m afraid of heights!

Gorgeous views

It was soooo fun trekking through the bush

I love this pic πŸ™‚

Apparently, crazy me also bushwalks with a Balenciaga bag πŸ˜‰

The place was absolutely beautiful

Drying off after wading in the water

Just awesome

Video of it all

Pooped and sweaty, we adjourned to Conservation Hut for a light lunch. Situated right on the cliff-top, it offers panoramic views and we were lucky to get the best table in the house – a little corner one dangling over the edge πŸ˜› The food was blimming’ delicious, which was quite unexpected since we thought it’d be just some cheap dodgy cafe. Not so! The Roast Tomato Soup with Toasted Cumin and drizzled with Coriander Yoghurt was rich and substantial, with the punchiest flavour and went brilliantly with the French bread dipped into it. The Smoked Trout Salad with Warmed Potatoes, Pickled Cucumber, Cress and Horseradish was quite surprising as there was more trout than salad πŸ˜› Very tasty though and went brilliantly with their terrific Shoestring Fries with Aioli. OMG!!! One of the nicest fries we’ve had. I don’t know what they did to them, but they’ve obviously hit the jackpot with this one πŸ˜‰

Tired and sweaty

Outdoor dining doesn’t get much better than this!

Headed home after lunch to just veg around and watched lots of Desperate Housewives and House episodes… before having a (very depressing) dinner of cereal because all the nearby restaurants were shut by the time I got hungry at 9pm! Blah!! They need to pass a law in Australia that has restaurants open 24/7, or at least ’til midnight! It’s ridiculous how they all close so early.. same goes with all the shops, grrr. Anyway, at least we had a nice afternoon/evening of just lazing around, since that’s what holidays are all about!

I think you both are just the cutest thing ever! This reminds me I need to take a vacation soon with my man. We couldn’t this year but hopefully next year we will be able to go some where nice and tropical!!!

I’ve been craving a cupcake and a mocha for the past couple of days – probably because of exam studying…now your post reinvigorated my need for a cupcake and a mocha.

On Sun all the shops close at 4 and so do most of the cafes/restaurants.. only some major restaurants in the City will open til 9 and that’s very very very few! πŸ™

The cupcakes look so amazing!! I really would love to try them some day! And at least you exercised a little while holiday-ing (bushwalking) and had a great view along the way! πŸ˜€
