FOOD, Food reviews, Friends, Uncategorized A LAZY SUNDAY 22 May 2007

La Renaissance Patisserie Francaise
47 Argyle Street
The Rocks, NSW 2000
$$$–

Had a lazy Sunday lunch in La Renaissance Patisserie’s courtyard, with a friend. We ate far more than we probably should have, but it was worth it because their food’s always terrific! Though they’re fairly (in)famous for their bad/rude service, they were pleasant and polite to us, so no complaints there. And the place was packed, despite the City being fairly sleepy on Sundays. Not going to go into detail about the food, since you’ve heard it all before – many times! πŸ˜›

Feeling full and satisfied, we walked (rolled?) over to The Rocks Markets. Wandered around checking out the food, jewellery, and bits and bobs. I didn’t buy anything though, was trying very hard to exercise some sort of self-control on my spending habits!! The markets were bustling, and they make a great way to spend a lovely Sunday afternoon, especially when it’s lovely and sunny outside.

A ring I accidently stole, when I was trying on rings and
walked off with this one! πŸ™ Will have to go back this weekend
to return it… arghh.. so embarassing.

Headed back to my place where a bottle of chilled Brown Brothers 2006 Riesling and some DVDs were on the agenda for the rest of the afternoon.. as well as a lot of ferrety fun, with the ferrets scampering all over the place and generally being annoying, before falling asleep in our arms, completely zonked out.

Around dinner time, we ventured out, joined by her fiance. Unfortunately, the City really is completely dead on Sunday nights.. which we soon discovered when we walked around and everything was closed! Even the pubs were closed!!! Insane. After traipsing all over the City for almost half an hour, we finally decided on The Coffee Club.. and had sandwiches *bleah*. I’m not a fan of sandwiches but they weren’t too bad, quite nice as they were toasted and I had a hot chicken & avocado one. Nothing much to shout about but fortunately we’d had a huge (and filling) lunch. Plus, we went back to my place and had Cookies & Cream ice cream for dessert afterwards.. so it was all good :)~

Those cheese and ham croissants look absolutely delicious!
And the mille feuille…Mmmmm!
That’d be an absolute dream lunch for me πŸ™‚

I think the stall owner will be really grateful and pleased when you return the ring – most people would just think, may as well keep it! Good on you. :p

If the stall was really far away or something, I probably wouldn’t either *hangs head* but since it’s close, it’s not too much trouble!

It’s really hard to find a place that does it well apparently, and this is the only one in Sydney that does! Yay!

Love Brown Brothers Dessert Wines! They are soooo yummy!

Went to The Rocks Market too…..It’s too much fun! =D I’m glad you are having a good time, will try the La Renaissance next!

Err it’s at the markets so can’t call as they just set up a stall on weekends. In Australia people don’t really dock pay like that, esp since it’s her own stall
