SHIT SHIT SHIT!!!

We went out for a decadent 7-course degustation meal at Rise @ Darlinghurst, since it’s my last night in Sydney with my parents before I fly off for the USA tomorrow.

We ate and ate and ate and savored all the fantastic food. And I took tons and tons and tons of photos. Got ready to upload them to my computer and by some complete fluke/glitch, my camera’s memory card WIPED ITSELF OUT!!! I was about to copy & paste the pics onto my local hard drive and one minute the window showed like 50 photos and the next minute it had 0 photos.

MY COMPUTER IS POSSESSED.

It is obviously so hungry it has resorted to eating food-photos.

Very angry!!!!! It was the nicest/prettiest/most expensive dinner of the whole lot, which we saved for the last night, and I don’t have a SINGLE photo to show for it! *bangs head on keyboard*

Chicken & tofu salad with sesame miso sauce
Clear broth with fried tofu stuffed with calamari mince
Assorted today’s fresh market sashimi (ocean trout, kingfish, oyster)
Spicy tuna tartare in wonton cup
Soft shell crab sushi roll
Cured salmon with spiced mayo
Grilled scaloop with rice noodles and green papaya salad
Lingfish tempura, roasted red cupsicum & eggplant ragu with soy “mizore” sauce
Pannacotta with peach granita

ANGRY.

So sorry to hear that happened to your camera. It is my worst nightmare…

I am planning to visit Rise when I go up to Sydney this August. The degustation menu sounds so nice! Do they have more varieties on the fresh sashimi?

btw, I got your link from Vogue forum and have been enjoying reading the posts. I love your two ferrets!

For the degustation menu, you can’t vary the dishes but if you’re allergic to something you can always ask. DEFINITELY worth a visit, as is Kobe Jones! Mmmmmm

aw sorry to hear about your hungry computer dude. i went to rise last week too and had the exact menu you had but i just havent had the time to post the fotos becos im a lil slow haha

That’s happened to me TWICE before with my memory card, no rhyme and reason. I’m guessing maybe it has something to do with static? No clue…ohhh but I remember being SO mad each time.

Mmm, you’re making me hungry! πŸ™‚

I never even knew that could happen OMG.. and it happened to you twice! I would’ve been swearing like a sailor πŸ˜›

I had this happen to me a while back so I can absolutely feel for you.

Only consolation is perhaps at least you’ll have your memories to live on! And while you can’t show us any pictures, you can remember and savour it yourself in your mind! A tutor once told me, sometimes, when you take photos of everything, your memory tends to becomes comprised out of those photos and nothing else anymore.

Hm. Anyway, the week ahead can only get better! πŸ™‚

Imagine if it were my own wedding photos.. or holiday photos or something.. That would be even worse :X
I’m going to see if I can recover ’em *fingers crossed*

one more thing … if you have not reformatted yet, or tried to take too many more photos, good camera stores can recover the photos – maybe. talk to Georges’ in the city, or other good specialist camera stores there, a friend of mine got 100 photos back after it went kaput.

You should be able to recover at least some of them with one of those photo recovery programs. Anyway, it’s not the end of the world!

I’m gonna try that.. but it’s SO weird, it’s like the entire card is empty – kind of like if I’d selected all the pics and hit Delete! :X

does the camera still take pictures now?

have you tried uploading them again to see if you can save any?

may I know what model is it? maybe can the memory card fixed or send it in for repairs if its still under warranty.

the other thing is tat your usb connection might be the problem.

Yeah the camera’s perfect, I tried putting the card back in but still 0 pics πŸ™ It’s a Canon IXUS 60 and the memory card just inserts straight into my laptop. It’s insane, I was just about to copy and paste the photos onto my hard drive, and didn’t do/touch a thing, and all the pics just randomly disappeared!

OMG! Pics of food are the best – apart from eating it all of course! You know what you’ll have to do right? Cancel your flight and go back so you can do it again. Eeeeek! So unfair! Suggest you try and figure out what’s happened. The minimum would be to get a new memory card “just in case!” Commiserations …
