Festivals, FOOD, Uncategorized TO MARKET, TO MARKET 8 April 2007

The Good Living Growers’ Market occurs only once a month and in the wee hours of a Saturday morning. Well, it’s actually 7-11am but it’s considered “wee hours” since it’s on a weekend πŸ˜‰ I’ve only been there once, and the last time, I rocked up at around 11am so most were shut, to my disappointment.

Today, the 4 of us got up early and made our way there by 9am. The weather was horrid – dreary, cold and raining.. like it was London in winter! It didn’t deter us though, so we braved the weather with umbrellas but still got really wet walking around. Everything was soggy but there were still lots of people at the markets, I guess it was just too good to be missed! Lots of great fresh food and almost all of the stalls feature stuff that you wouldn’t normally get at a regular supermarket.. many farmers sell their produce directly from those stalls, which is cool. Anyway, took lots of photos!

The silly man cooking it, hee!!

Rain rain go away

Not yet satisfied with just ONE market, we headed onto ANOTHER market – The Rocks Markets. This one’s on every weekend and is super-touristy, but is still fun to wander through. The rain also cleared up and the sun came out, to our delight! We sticky-beaked everywhere but didn’t buy anything at all, very good self control πŸ˜‰

The Rocks Markets

Pretty cloth stitchings

Gorgeous silver bangles

Australian paintings

Colourful jewellery

Candies

Booooomerangs

Didgeridoos

Pretty & colourful glasses

Old-style pubs

And, rather randomly, we then hit the David Jones food hall and it was bustling with people, so I took a sneaky video of it all whilst we shopped til we dropped.

And as if all that activity wasn’t enough for the day, went for dinner at Gilroy Hotel with some friends.

And it’s the next morning right now, woke up at 7am as we’re now off to the ROYAL EASTER SHOW!! Hurray!!!!! Spending the whole day there πŸ˜€

Let’s Chat!

I love going to farmers markets but I never seem to get up early enough. Hmmm…why do they have them so early in the mornings?! πŸ˜›

I know I am a stranger, but I saw your pictures, and totally recognized the Rocks Market! I was in Sydney for a few weeks back in Sept. and Oct., and I went to the Rocks Market the Sunday before I came home. That place is crazy! Thanks for bringing back the memory πŸ™‚
