FASHION, Living in... Singapore, Uncategorized MUM’S DRESSES 2 March 2007

I played dress up with Mum’s clothes πŸ˜› She dug out her lovely dresses that she wore back when she was around my age and they actually fit me! So weird but so cool πŸ™‚ They’re really lovely dresses, all tailor-made and gorgeous.. I’m definitely going to be wearing ’em. Unfortunately, crappy pic quality, but the dresses really are vibrant and gorgeous in real life!

pretty! you could totally pass those off nowadays…

so jealous you can fit your mom’s clothing! out of my mom’s kid (three girls) all of us are too fat to fit into her clothes. they were trendy in her generation but also trendy now!

Aww bummer! Maybe you can get them altered so they fit? I wish mum kept more of her casual/office wear, I’d love to wear those too πŸ™‚

I’d never expected the clothes to be wearable present-day, so it’s fortunate fashion comes in cycles! πŸ˜›

They are really beautiful and fit you perfectly! Like they were made for you! And they’re in such perfect condition!!

It’s pretty amazing how that turns out though, I can wear all the clothes my mum wore when she was my age because they all fit me so well.

I think clothing made back in the day are much better quality than nowadays, especially since everyone seemed to have their own tailor. Most of my mum’s clothes were tailored and they’ve all kept in perfect condition. Whereas clothes I bought 5 years ago are all tattered and torn!

It was so cool discovering that they fit me πŸ˜› Does your mum have formal clothes only or can you wear her casual wear too?

She has a fair bit of casual clothes. She has this REALLY gorgeous wool grey trench-looking coat (but is not really a trench, becaused it kind of flows out a bit on the bottom), and it fits me PERFECTLY and is so snuggly and warm! And looks brand new. So perfect for winter πŸ™‚

I think it’s cool how around 30yrs later, the dresses can still be worn. It goes to show fashion really does come and go in cycles!

i love the green dress! it’s gorgeous!
my mother didn’t keep hers but i’m bigger than her anyway so that’s alright. i’ll “aim” for her jewellery instead

omg your mom must have been HOT when she was younger!!!!! and she had some great taste πŸ™‚

and omg the green dress is GORGEOUS. it doesn’t even look vintage!

i wish my mom kept more of her clothes rom back in the day! one of the only things left over from her younger days is a vintage fendi.

I love her taste, esp since it’s so similar to mine.. and that green dress is back in fashion with the empire waist , haha!

It’s so cool how they fit without alterations for me.. I’m going to try an d find an occasion to wear ’em πŸ˜›

Sometimes I love to try on my mom’s clothes as well, my mom is still very fit consider she is in her early 50’s, you know sometimes I have problem fitting into her jeans! :S hehe abit embarrassing! πŸ˜›

That is so cool that your mom kept her dresses from back then. Does your mom have pics of herself wearing those dresses? So cool! *^^*

So pretty! And timeless! Can you post some of your mum’s picture when she was young said, 29 years ago?? I think she should be a very pretty girl πŸ˜€

nice vintage dresses.. πŸ™‚
now, i’d better ask my mom what dresses that she wore on her wedding. haha..

*lol* good point, so maybe that means I can buy really $$ dresses and justify it if my daughter(s) wear ’em πŸ˜‰

Thanks! I really like ’em too πŸ™‚ it’s cool to have a few new dresses and not have to pay any $ for em, hehe!

Hmm, the first dress is pretty but I think it’d look better on you if you have it shortened a few inches. The two-piece silk outfit is also very nice!
I am IN LOVE with the green dress. It’s gorgeous!!! The last dress must look beautiful in real life, because of the colors.

Are the dress RTW or were custom made?

Mum was thinking of taking the sleeves off the lace one and shortening it as well.. it would make it more day-wear, whereas it’s really formal as it is. I like it both ways!

We were both surprised that the dresses all fit me πŸ˜› The 2-piece silk one needs to be altered though, as it’s a lil big.. but the rest are perfect!

they’re all so beautiful, but i really love the green dress. that’s GORGEOUS…just one or two standout gold accessories (gold sandals, a gold cuff, gold dangly earrings…SO HOT. you can probably shorten it for going out at night by using a brooch or something to pin up one side of the fabric.

You’ve got a great fashion eye πŸ™‚ I do agree, those accessories would look killer with the green dress! I just need to find an occasion to wear it now….. Must get a boyfriend and be asked out on a fancy date, hehe

wow really gorgeous vintage dresses! very nice shade of green.

i couldn’t wear my mom’s stuffs at all as they are too tiny. she had to gave away/threw some away in the end.

That’s such a shame πŸ™ You could’ve tried to alter/tailor it to fit? But sometimes it’s hard and looks odd if you do that!

wow, cant believe you can fit into your mom’s clothes! theyt’re so cool and classic!

my mom made me try hrt wedding qipqao when i was 16. but she was really tiny back then, there was no way the zipper could close!

ooh they’re gorgeous!! i can’t believe my mum gave away her stuff instead of keeping them for me. *cries*

It’s amazing! There’s really a thing to be said for classic cuts! And it’s also amazing that the two of you are exactly the same size!

WOW! Your mom’s dresses are awesome and it’s really great that you can wear them! They are really very pretty & HOT!
