FASHION, FOOD, Uncategorized CHINESE NEW YEAR FAIR 18 February 2007

Had a lovely day in the City, shopping and checking out the Chinese New Year fair @ Chinatown. The fair was craziness – so many people that it was pretty overwhelming. It was also really sunny and pretty warm, so it was kinda frenetic after awhile.. I’m just not a huge fan of crowds and pushing/shoving people. It was fun though, with a celebratory buzz in the air. The stall owners were all really pleasant and gave me lots of freebie samples :)~ Came home with an armload of goodies!

People galore *freaks out*

Chinese New Year shingdings

More stuff

Lots of game stalls for the kids

Men playing Chinese chess, much to the awe of the Aussies milling around

My dim sims – hot, meaty, delicious!

Japanese pancake dessert

I got a custard one!

Bought this “Vitamin C health drink” after the lady
piled me with free samples. Only $1 for the bottle!

Bought 3 of these instant-food tins, got 1 free. Plus a free umbrella!

Went to Bread Story to buy some buns

Also a marble/honey cake which I had with…

…Gloria Jeans green tea iced latte

I’m also incredibly pleased with this Diva bangle that I found. Bangles normally don’t fit me because of my under-6-inch wrist.. but this one did! I had to bend it small but it still looks pretty normal on me instead of falling straight off my hand. I love it. The best part? It was only $9.95!! And it matches my Tiffany & Co ring! I was talking to a salesgirl who recognised my T&C ring, and she asked if that was the matching T&C bangle πŸ˜› I happily told her it was under 10 bucks!

It was fun being amongst the hustle and bustle of everyone.. and I’m looking forward to experiencing it in SG this weekend πŸ˜€

That is such a good deal on the bracelet girl! and the fair looks like a lot fun I know my aunt (Korean) she loves doing celebrate the new year with a big dinner but I am glad that you had a lot fun!

yeah traditionally everyone has a big dinner.. I wish I was back in SG to have one with my parents! At least I will this weekend when I”m back πŸ™‚

That bracelet is to die for and matches the ring perfectly.

I have been to Chinese New Year celebrations in 2 USA states and they
had the dragon, and dim sum, but nothing else that you showed in the
photos. The emphasis here is more on special meals in restaurants, or
just business as usual but a sign announcing the holiday. Crowded or
not, it looks really cool to have attended that fair!

I love the bangles! They look so great with your ring!

I have the same problem finding bracelets for my tiny wrists.

Looks like a great day πŸ™‚

sounds like a lovely day sweets!

you mesmerized all the stall owners! thats why so much freebies! πŸ˜‰

mm, i think Georg Jensen had got a similar bangle for like SGD100+ or something.

Do you know the history of Tiffany & Co. they invented the engagement ring phenomenom as a marketing strategy! (I got my current gf a Tiffany ring when we started dating, sorta like yours, only she doesnt like it or wear it, instead wears a plain ring i got her. I like the way they use negative space in their jewelry designs.

The Chinese New Year fair looks like it was lots of fun, too bad we don’t have a Chinese community here or I would have been there too! The food you got there looks amazingly good :D~

Happy Chinese New Year Bev! We stuffed our faces last night, I’m still feeling full today…didn’t stop me having pizza for dinner tonight though, heh. πŸ˜›

seems to be very funny! My frined is going to China for a month just for traveling – crazy… as she needs to receive her university diploma this year,, but there just wind in her head πŸ˜‰
Happy Chinease New year and do not drink a lot πŸ™‚

i waited in line twice (on friday night then on Saturday day) for those custard things but on friday the line was SOOO long i could see all the raffle tickets waiting and on saturday this one lady placed an order for 10 in different flavours and it took the guy 5 mins to write on the ticket 3 x chocolate…i gave up πŸ™

i totally did not buy enough there!! πŸ™‚ i lved freebies too i got free rice with my soy sauce purchase lol

Wow I didn’t realise they were that popular! I waited but only for abt 5 mins… whew, cos I would’ve gotten grumpy otherwise πŸ˜›

The ones that can bend and not look totally warped/weird are hard to find.. I’m SO glad I found this one, and so cheap too! πŸ˜›
