i think you look great in glasses. πŸ™‚
i’m sure it will go quite smoothly. most patients i talk to are amazed at how quickly they recover, esp if they went to a good surgeon. good luck on your lasik!

The surgery will be fine but the recovery period is the most crucial. DO NOT RUB eyes! Anyway, let me know if you have any pain about 2 hours after the surgery and before you sleep. I still cannot take the surgeon’s reasoning that I have low pain tolerance.

Thanks for the advice and tips.. I did hear that you take a few days before you’re back to normal, and those few days will be the most annoying!

Actually, you can see quite well right after you wake up from your nap. In fact my hubby was already driving an hour after the surgery at night (which of course is risky). You probably will feel fine enough after half a day to do things almost as usual (except swimming, going to dusty places like pubs and factories etc, your doctor will advise you). Then you CANNOT RUB your eyes for one month which is soooo difficult for me…

just take care of your eyes from now on, i’m sure your unc would’ve told you that you can still ruin your eyesight if you stick to old bad habits..:) good luck! i like to read lying down so until i kick that habit, i’ll stick to contacts and glasses

My dad had lasik some time before. He had to wear an eye patch and he looked like a pirate. You have all the pirate paraphernalia right? πŸ˜›

Oh my goodness!

How much did the lasik cost, if you don’t mind me asking. I need to get lasik soon too as I’m allergic to my contact lenses πŸ™

The only time I had a relative work on me was when I was in the army. The dentist was my uncle and he was doing a wisdom tooth extraction for me. Gave me one week MC. πŸ˜›

good luck with the surgery!
I would do it now if my eye sight was stable. 😑
do you know how long it takes to get it stable?
I’m sick of wearing glasses and contacts. πŸ™
i’m still 18… so I probably have to wait till i hit my 20s!?

I know it varies to person, but it needs to be stable for a good few years to be safe – mine’s been the same for 10 years now.

Apparently it’s better post 20 like you said!

Someone told me that too! What was I doing?? I know it was eBay related but I’ve filmed for a whole bunch so I don’t know which one it was :X

I don’t really remember.. ahh.. hopefully they’ll show it again during our company meeting tomorrow. Prob with these PR things is that you don’t get much warning so no time to brush hair or put on makeup. Grr!

WOW you were a perfect candidate for you! Mine isn’t very high but I just find glasses/contacts such a hassle.. plus Lasik is (practically) permanent. Glad to hear it went well for you πŸ™‚

i happen to like how you look in glasses πŸ˜›
are you going to put in glass lenses in them once you get lasik, so you can sport the nerdy-girl look?

Haha really?! Nah it doesn’t really do it for me.. hard to focus as I’m not used to it. I don’t think I’d still wear them afterwards, even if it IS to look smarter, haha!

with the spects and the fringe, u look like a fren of mine!

Good luck with the surgery.. too bad I can’t go for it yet, my short sightedness hasn’t stabilized. -_-

Lucky. I want to get Lasik but it’s soooo expensive and my insurance doesn’t cover it. Hell, them fools don’t even cover contact lenses unless it’s medically necessary (ie. you had surgery and have to wear lenses which sounds like bullshit to me.)

Are you on private insurance? mine covers my contact lenses (but I have to pay 20%).. that “medically necessary” thing sounds like a way out for them IMHO! GRRRR

Nope, good old federal Medicaid since my crap ass job doesn’t offer any type of benefits past the paycheck LOL. It is a way out for them because if you have eye surgery, they always tell you NOT to wear your contacts (unless I’m unaware of some special case.) Medicaid is a pain. I’m supposed have access via them to get a new pair of glasses every two years. I used my insurance for the first time to get a pair this year and they only paid for $40 for the eye exam which mean I had to shell out like $120 for my frames and lenses. And then a couple months later, I get a letter from them saying they rejected my $40 claim, without saying why, so if the glasses people want their $40, I would have to pay them AGAIN!!!

*screams*

I think it’s like our Medicare here, a system every Australia has access to.. but it’s really lowwww and barely covers anything! But it’s better than nothing I guess πŸ˜›

HOpefully the glasses shop won’t ask for their $40.. you should follow up and ask why they rejected it, dodgy bastards!
