Strangely named, I was keen on trying out Twenty-Double-Eight (it’s actually named after the postcode the restaurant is located in) when I saw that it had a really high rating on Eatability. It’s also under 5 mins walk from my physiotherapy, so popped in there afterwards to check it out and Chris met me there as well for dinner. Was initially a little put-off when I saw wine glasses on the table. Nothing against wine of course, but when I see an Asian food place with wine glasses, I just think “Catering for the Western crowd. Not authentic.” However, all the waitresses and the chef was Japanese so we persevered. They also outright state their “fusion”, which I thought was great.. at least they’re not trying to fool anyone.

Settled on their $19.90 3-course set menu and also got some sushi to share. Filled us up satisfyingly and the service was impeccable. We had a really pretty petite Japanese waitress (but sounded completely Australian) and service was prompt and friendly. It’s definitely good food, but I personally wouldn’t drive there for it unless I was already in the area, because you can get good Japanese food all over Sydney.
