FOOD, Food reviews, Uncategorized PYRMONT GOOD LIVING GROWER’S MARKETS & FISH MARKETS 2 September 2006

Spring has sprung!

Woke up today and the sun was shining, the skies were blue, the birds were chirping (well, probably). Spring had hit full-force and overnight, the weather became completely perfect. Completely perfect for having an outdoor-outing, that is!

So it was off to the Good Living Growers’ Market @ Pyrmont. The unfortunate thing about this once-a-month event is that it runs from 7 – 11am. Completely insane. For this reason, I’d never been there before.. since I tend to wake up at 11am on weekends πŸ˜‰ But today, decided to make the effort and we managed to make it there – albeit not at 7am, but rather more along the near-11am mark.

We were pretty *wowed* by it all. Chris declared that we’re going to go back there again, but drive instead, so we can buy all the fresh organic produce that was on offer. We were especially keen on the fresh trout and salmon.. and also the wagyu beef… and the fruit.. ohhhh.. basically everything! We sampled from almost every store but unfortunately couldn’t buy all the fresh seafood/meat πŸ™ Had an organic mandarin juice though, which was a winner. I’d love to go again, this time with a car.. just wish they’d START at 11am and close at 3pm or something!

Walking across Pyrmont bridge to get to the markets

Wandering around the markets

After that, since we were in the area, we headed off to The Sydney Fish Markets @ Pyrmont for our usual fresh seafood. However this time, we didn’t binge-eat.. but rather just shared a few bits of food. It was divine just sitting outside in the sun and by the water.. enjoying our seafood. This is the reason why I think Sydney is, by far and away, one of the best cities to live in. At times like these, you really appreciate what you’ve got.

Oh I love going to the Fish Markets! My dad used to go their every weekend to get seafood for our restaurant, but not anymore =( I hate the smell of seafood, but I like the complex there

Ooo I bet your restaurant would have the best fresh seafood :)~ it does make you smell a bit fishy, but the food’s too good to miss!
