FOOD, My recipes, Uncategorized GOING ORGANIC 2 August 2006

After hitting the Organic Expo last weekend, I was ‘inspired’ to go organic. It won’t last long, since it limits my food options way too much, but it’s still fun and makes me feel ridiculously smug that I’m being ‘healthy’ πŸ˜›

So on the way home the other night, I stopped at Macro Wholefoods Supermarket and loaded up on some organic produce. When I go organic, I like to eat the food pretty much fresh and uncooked.. I figure if I buy organic then cook it, I won’t really taste/feel the difference. That’s my theory, anyway. Plus, since organic food’s so $$$, I might as well make the most out of it!

Decided to make an Organic fresh pasta, which consisted of:
mushrooms cooked in garlic
avocado
roasted fresh tomatos
basil
red onion
chicken & chilli sausage
ricotta cheese
extra virgin olive oil

It was so satisfying and filling, plus every single ingredient was organic – hurray!

Last night, I made an Organic salad for Chris and I. Used basically the same ingredients as the pasta above, but added some shredded roast chicken for a bit of salt & meat. It was SO satisfying!! Even Chris, who initially turned his nose up and said “Ewww… salad? We won’t be full!” swooned when he started eating.. said it was one of the best homemade dinners, since it was filling but didn’t make you feel overly stuffed. So tasty too! We’re salad converts now πŸ™‚

And this is probably the furthest you can get from organic, but it’s still yummy πŸ™‚ Fruit Parfait, Green Tea, Lemon Cheesecake kit kats!! I’d say my favourite is, by far, the Green Tea – it’s a really subtle flavour but you can detect it in the aftertaste. So lovely and mild. Next is the Lemon Cheesecake which sounds strange in a kit kat, but is so tasty. Last is the Fruit Parfait which I still can’t decide if I like or don’t like!

now the Fruit Parfait is sold in Singapore..as usual..BIG box..bOring..

Re: KitKat

I couldn’t find the various flavours of kit kats in Australia – they have the chunky finger bars with Caramel, or Truffle, etc.. but just really standard and mediocre, not unusual like Green Tea or Lemon cheesecake, etc πŸ™

Re: KitKat

Oic..looks likes the thing sold here and there is very much different. Maybe the sales and marketing manager of Nestle shld work together. Am working on a project with Nestle..maybe i shld make a casual remark and suggest to them..haha..

Have you tried the sakura kit kat ? They may have them only around spring time in Japan but if you can get your hands on them, they’re good !!

well they taste like cherry tree flowers… if that means anything to you ! They don’t taste like anything I’ve tasted before, maybe a little bit of strawberries?

I recently saw the fruit parfait one around, but haven’t dared to try it. I don’t really like the lemon cheesecake one though. >.<

Chris’ fave is the lemon cheesecake.. I do like it, but I prefer the Wine and also the Green Tea even more. Yum!!

This has to be better than what I’m having for dinner. Ramen noodles (without the seasoning), alphabet soup and cream cheese.
