FOOD, Food reviews, Uncategorized HOMECOOKED GREEK SALAD, TEN-SUN JAPANESE 17 July 2006

I’ve committed myself to exercising every single day this week. Today, I did a stint on the bicycle and rode 15km – reasonable, I suppose. But then I did 15 mins of crunches and arm weights, etc.. so I’m feeling pretty healthy now 🙂 Tomorrow? Going to jog home from work!

Anyway, I decided I needed some protein in me after the workout.. especially since lunch consisted of a massive portion of really really greasy (but delicious!) ravioli with cheese. Ended up making up a Greek salad with egg and tuna – quick, simple and really tasty. Also about to eat 2 handful of Edamame, which I think is high in fibre & protein as well? I’m still kinda hungry though :X

I love my Japanese food, and nothing beats a steaming bowl of Japanese ramen when it’s a bit chilly and dreary outside. Ten Sun is just 10 mins walk from where I live and makes a great, casual lunch… so I took myself there yesterday. At approx $10 a bowl, it’s reasonably priced too. I selected the Miso Ramen with Pork, which I clearly stated (twice!) “No beansprouts please” – since I have a beansprout phobia. Well, when my massive bowl came, guess what? TONS OF BEANSPROUTS! I was so peeved I was considering taking it back, but I couldn’t be bothered. I did spend the next 10 mins picking them out though, much to my annoyance. There were SO MANY in there it was mindboggling – more beansprouts than noodles.

That aside, the noodles were cooked just-so and the soup was nice and hot.. albeit a little on the salty side. I LOVED the pork that came with it – 6 (!) massive slices that fell apart in my mouth.. they were so tender and tasty. I’ll come back, but next time, I’m going to make sure they repeat after me “No beansprouts”.. because that ruined the entire dish.

I bloody HATE beansprouts in noodles! I think what annoys me most about them is that they look like noodles until you put them in your mouth.

Well I do like bean sprouts 🙂 Just bought a bag full but not for my soup…I never really did like them cooked and I definitely do not like the texture or taste of them in soup. I hate when I say “no_____” at resturants and they do it anyway…. next time, if there is on – send it back. its your dinner, your money.

    and i just love ramen:)))))
