Okay, Bev, you’re coming back to California. I noticed the In N’ Out burger on your list, there’s one near the airport, so you could always stop there first. But what I wanted to say is that you need to print out the “secret menu” before you go, so you know what to order. When you walk in there’s like three things on their menu, but then there’s this whole secret menu that you can order from.

http://www.daviswiki.org/In-N-Out_Secret_Menu

You’ll love, love Union Square shopping with Tiffany’s, Bloomingdales and all of the other designer stores nearby. Also hit the side streets where a lot of designers have shops.

And Stinking Rose… well don’t plan on breathing near anyone for awhile afterward. The garlic is intense. And in LA, you’ll also like Rodeo Drive. Not the main drag, but the small side street where all of the cool shops are.

Yup, the burger stop will be when I touch down.. heh. Oh wait, I think I might fly straight into San Jose.. ahh if that’s the case I’ll have to hunt one down. WHYYYY do they have a secret menu?? it’s so bizzare!

I feel silly going to Union Square again so soon, but last time I didn’t get to shop ALL of it, so I don’t care, haha! I spent my whole time last time in the LV and Hermes boutique buying stuff.. heh.. and didn’t get to see much else :X

I liked Rodeo Drive but I went there so recently, so I chose Hollywood instead! πŸ˜›

Sounds like my kind of travelling! Whenever I travel, I always make eating and shopping a priority. And I guess a little sightseeing too.

Haha same! Maybe it’s a chick thing πŸ˜›
I’m not interested in sightseeing as I’ve been to all those places before :X

Your trip sounds like mine, centered around the restaurants to go to, and what to buy. I’m doing the same thing right now for my trip to NYC in a couple weeks. Have a great time, I can’t wait to see all the pics of food and what you buy. πŸ™‚

& You say it’s a business trip!

Haha. Sounds like a whole lot of fun (and eating). Enjoy! πŸ™‚ and update regularly. πŸ˜€

Hee I just didn’t include the boring part πŸ˜›

I’ll try and take pics and update! I should have internet access right through *crosses fingers*

Ahh, I’ve always wanted to try In ‘N Out Burger!

I think I told you this before, but we stayed in Union Square in SF (Hotel Diva :D). If you get a chance in Macy’s basement, you may want to try Jamba Juice (smoothies) if you haven’t. They’re amazing, and our (my fiance and I) new addiction since having them.

The burgers are THE BEST!! I posted a pic of one when I had it a few months ago – it’s deeelish.

I’ve heard tons about Jamba Juice, will have to try it. we have a similar thing here too – Boost Juice!

Don’t be surprised with Vancouver’s Chinatown, it’s really quite dirty. I honestly wouldn’t recommend you going there. IF you want a quick Vancouver tour, try take the skytrain, for only about 45m-1h, you could take a round-trip around the city.

Yeah I think I’ve been there before, but I was quite young so I don’t remember it. Will probably drive around Vancouver though!

don’t forget…

Shopping at Fred Segals in LA, on Rodeo Drive for fancy schmacy stuff, in Melrose for off beat stuff. Also, a great place for dessert in LA is Yamashiro – not the best food or anything, but it’s right in the Hollywood Hills so on a nice day, you get an AMAZING view.

Also, I don’t think there in a Balenciaga boutique in LA/SF, i believe they are only in Paris and NY. =(

Re: don’t forget…

I went to Fred Segal in LA a few months ago, but it didn’t take my fancy! I also went to Rodeo Dr recently, so I chose hollywood this time instead πŸ˜›

Yamashira.. is that Japanese dessert? It sounds like it πŸ™‚

Balencaga sells at NM in SF and also in LA.. and also in Susan’s in SF. They don’t have their stand-alone boutique, but they sell in a lot of stores in the USA – unlike Australia πŸ™

Re: don’t forget…

if you ever visit new york for business, you must go to the boutique in NYC, they have *EVERYTHING* it’s like heaven there.

and yes, yamashiro is japanese dessert – it’s a regular japanese restaurant too, but the regular food is very so-so. have fun!

Re: don’t forget…

Haha I”m scared to go to the actual B boutique! I’ll be going to one in Singapore.. I fear i”ll try and buy everything – heh

have fun! That’s a nice trip! Even thought, it sounds really exaustive. I wish i could help you but i don’t know much about Vancouver expect i hope it dosen’t rain the entire time you’d there because it has been raining alot there. and that the chinatown is really amazing there. That’s what my friend that i’ve lived/had trips there tell me!

have fun!

Thanks! But yeah, all the flying and zooming around means I’ll be totally exhausted when I return.. I hope it doesn’t rain while I’m there too!

Hope you have a good time in Vancouver. πŸ™‚ And don’t forget to visit Holts when you’re at Pacific Centre. All high-end cosmetics, bags, clothes, you name it! πŸ™‚

I’d suggest you eat at Phenom Pehn for lunch when you’re in Chinatown. It’s a hole-in-the-wall type restaurant, but it is really really good food and constantly voted as best cambodian/vietnamese restaurant in town. Or maybe try a $2 vietnamese sub at Ba Le for a quickie lunch. It’s cheap and uber good stuff!

I’ll definitely have to keep an eye out for it!

I LOVE Vietnamese so I’ll keep a look out for it πŸ™‚ Thanks for the rec!

heheheh Beverly Center *chuckles*
if i dont get to say it before you leave i hope you have a very safe journey (all the way through)- it’s an insane number of (long) flight’s you’ll be taking so here’s hoping itll be better than your crappy experience on qantas last time!

Heh I’ll have to take photo of the sign.. last time I took a pic of the Beverly Blvd sign too πŸ˜›

Yeah it’s a lot of flying :X The crap experience was with United I believe.. I love the Qantas flat beds so should be ok!

Yes I know! I’tll be real weird… going from 2 celcius weather to 30 celcius.. it’s like I have to bring my entire wardrobe, haha!

Wow, enjoy your trip!

I know your family lives in SG but I don’t know if you’ve tried Royce’? It’s a Japanese company but only SG and HK sell their goods outside Japan. Highly recommended are their chocolate covered potato chips and their Nama chocolate (has to be consumed right away because it melts). They have branches at Takashimaya (basement 2) and Suntec City mall.
My Dad is currently working on a project in SG and has been stocking up on Royce’ goodies. He told me half his luggage is chocolate!

p.s. In LA I’ve heard good things about Kitson and Maxfield (or Maxfield’s…whatever it’s called).

Ooooo yes I love Royce chocolates! But it’s hard for me to bring ’em back to Australia as they need to be refrigerated.. I always go for their original cube chocs, so I haven’t tried anything else πŸ˜› I gotta try the potato chips next time, they look so yum!!

& You say it’s a business trip!

You’ve definitely got your priorities right! I would absolutely call you a shopaholic, but never a “fatty shopoholic”!!
Have fun!

Who goes?? But yeah, I’m def hanging on to my digicam everywhere I go… haha! But I feel soo naff running up to take pics of celebs.. like a mad tourist :X

y dont u try boon tong kee chicken rice and also tiong bahru food centre..
if u hav the time in SG.. quite good food.. chomp chomp’s hokkien prawn mee is the best!!!

Ooo where’s Boon Tong Kee chicken rice? And what’s good at Tiong Bahru? I’m in SG for just under a week so gotta plan all my food so I can pack everything in, haha.. think I’ll be eating every hour of the day!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE chomp chomp’s mee too…. ahhh… i’m practically drooling just thinking about it :)~~~~

their oyster fried egg is superb too!! i know chompchomp cos i grew up there, practically, cos my granny used to own a stall there selling laksa, but she’s retired, but still.. the ppl ther know me..
tiong bahru if i remember the Chwee Kuay is good, and serangoon gardens market, near chomp chomp serves very good kuay chup and vegetarian noodles.. absolutely heavenly.. u shud try them..
boon tong kee i believe is near Great World City..

Ahh chomp chomp is so yum, I like it’s renovation too πŸ™‚ But the bbq chicken wings are so $$! The or luak is one of my faves as well, and so’s the bbq sting ray. YUM

Thanks for all the recs! Can’t wait to be there :)~

hey Boon Tong Kee is totally over-rated and overpriced! i much prefer Five Star, which is right next to it. they’re both on River Valley Road, heading in the direction moving away from Zouk/Great World City.

I wasn’t too impressed by the shopping when I was in vancouver but then the things you look for are probably different from what I’m looking for!

Haha true… I don’t intend to buy stuff in Vancouver, it’s not that much different to Sydney or USA in terms of shopping. Probably more walking around and checking it out πŸ˜›

Hrm. I walked throughout most of my trips in Vancouver. DO NOT GO TO THE SINGAPORE RESTUARANT because it’s crappy food! You could go to the mountains, go on a boat ride, go see which movies are currently filming, go to the beach…

Ooo thanks for the tip, i won’t go. I’ll be in SG soon after anyway and can get my SG food fix then, heh heh heh..

If there’s any movie filming or cool stuff I’ll take lots of pics πŸ˜›

And yes I LOVE A&W but last I went, the place didn’t have waffles????? They’re the best bit!!

don’t forget…
