I totally agree with you too Bev! I practically grew up on McDonald’s and fast food. I was the kid who never wanted to eat Chinese food and instead ate burgers and fries, haha.

I saw that documentary and I thought it was interesting and scary …but than I was in the book store. Do you remember at the end his girlfriend put him on a ‘detox’ diet? and he got better? Well, damn if I didnt find a ‘detox’ diet book written by her about when he did to recover. Hm. Smacked out cashing in on his fame to me…

Its not that I doubt he got sick – Im sure he did… And eating the way he did wasnt good. I don’t think you can eat the way he ate and be healthy and perhaps he opened some peoples eyes about eating a more well rounded diet…I dont know.

But her book seemed kind of smarmy – and recently in the US he had a show with people doing things for 30 days…weird stuff. i dont even remember what…dont think it lasted long.

So while i think it was a good documentary to make – all the cashing in on its fame gives me pause on his motives now

His gf was so self-righteous it annoyed me.. her and her freaky vegan ways. Blech!!! I don’t think I’d be friends with her πŸ˜›

If I ate a TON of lettuce a day and nothing else, I’d be just as sick, if not worse. So he doesn’t scare me at all.

Yeah – agreed… people can make way more moderate choices at McD’s… or just not eat there for every meal for 30 days….

Think I’d like to see him do 30 days in a bakery πŸ™‚ at least I’d like looking at the food

I swear you ranted about this once before – I remember saying something about fast metabolism. But apparently, it’s not fast metabolism that does it, it’s how active you are. Even if you’re just tapping your feet all the time you’ll burn a lot of fat. So there you go.

I used to eat a lot of maccas because they have EFTPOS – but these days I get cravings for quality salads and vegetables. For some reason, fresh food just makes me feel better and gives me more energy. Junk food is starting to clog up my insides and make me really tired!

I think I ranted about body size.. about people thinking it’s OK to say someone’s thin, but not OK to say they’re fat. Double standards ;( This annoys me just asmuch though!

Ahhh Maccas eftpos is the best, it saves so much money instead of withdrawing from an ATM!

My favorite Mcfood:

1. harshbrown
2. nuggets
3. sausage McMuffin with egg

By the way, I love your entries with photos on food. Always drool on them! Just keep them coming! hehe…

I live on fast food, and while I feel that sometimes it can feel a bit like it’s weighing me down, I also don’t think that it’s entirely all that bad.

But then with the choices of so much other good food to eat like pad thai or chilean sea bass, the fast food gets harder and harder to palate lol.

I love your edit. People can be so insensitive sometimes not realizing that they’re interacting with a real person and not a machine. I’ve never seen a good reason for someone to just come out and say, “eeew”. It’s pretty insensitive, IMO, so I was glad to read that!

I like fast food.. it tastes awesome. Can’t go wrong with that!

Can’t stand how two-faced people can be.. can’t tell a fat person she’s fat, but it’s OK to tell a thin person she’s thin. Grrrr.

You always get so many comments by the time that I get around to reading your entries, I feel hesitant to comment πŸ˜› But I totally agree with you!! It’s my second year in college right now and although I still live at home and what not, I usually eat out during the weekends and I usually have McDonalds once a week. That or In N’ Out or any of my other usual fast food. Plus, if anything, I think we can handle the stuff anyway because it’s food enough for us!!

And people always freak out when I eat something that they think is “gross”. The best part is that I could seriously care less as they freak out, I just keep on eating until I’m content πŸ™‚ It’s all ironic though, people always judge me on my appearance and take me for someone that has an eating disorder or too. It’s not only rude to me, but to people who have them too. That’s kinda sad, but I’ll end on a better note by saying- fast food fiends forever!! YAAAAY!!! πŸ˜€

Oooooooooo In N’ Out~!!!! I had my first taste of that last week and I *love* it.. it tastes so different to Maccas, and I think the burger actually tastes better. I wish we had it in AU πŸ™

I don’t care if people think it’s gross, i only don’t like it when they say it to my face! I mean, it’s like people think it’s ok to tell a thin person she’s to thin, but somehow it’s not acceptable to tell a fat chick she’s overweight. Hrmmmm.

Precisely πŸ™‚ I just had In N’ Out for lunch today at work!! :X

Maybe when you retire, you can come live out in CALIFORNIA!!! πŸ˜€

Or if not, you can just come here like every other year or when you’re bored πŸ™‚

I had a similar reaction after reading Fast Food Nation. I had such a craving for McDonald’s! As for Super Size Me, the only thing that grossed me out was the way the guy was scarfing down his meals. That disgusted me.

ooo i haven’t read that book. IMHO though, if food tastes good, it’s your right to eat it! And at the end of the day, even if it kills you, at least you ENJOYED yourself and were HAPPY while you were alive πŸ™‚

Being a vegeterian, or worse, a vegan, would be HORRENDOUS. I couldn’t live with myself, lol!

No Wendys here in Au πŸ™ Our version of Wendys is just low-grade ice cream πŸ™

You know Bev… I had the same reaction to that. I immediately wanted a Big Mac. The whole Nuggets thing kind of grossed me out, but I don’t really eat those anyhow. Lately, when I go there, I try to get the Chicken Club sandwich… because in my head chicken equals healthier even though I know everything from McDonalds is far from healthy. Oh well.

We’re all going to die… might as well die having enjoyed yourself.

I looooove nuggets, they’re my favourite πŸ˜€ But now that it’s 100% chicken breast, it’s a bit dry πŸ™

A nd yes!! Might as well live shorter and love life.. instead of being bloody miserable and have a long life

Yes!! i don’t know why people think it’s OK to say that when I’m eating?! But it’s somehow not OK to say that eating salads all day is is gross?

Lovely rant. Very un-Beverly. I had McDonald’s alot when I was working one summer at the mall, then I went up a size in pants at the Gap and then I subsequently stopped. That was when I was 17 (not 22). Anyhow, I still got mega-cravings in university for McDonalds around exam time.

Heh! I do rant.. just to Chris only, most of the time πŸ˜‰

Maccas and Uni go hand in hand.. I do eat it a little less now, at least not every day!

I haven’t seen the movie, don’t really feel like seeing it. From what I’ve read that guy ate it all the time for a month. I hardly even touch fast food, the occassional filet is not going to kill me. Maybe the car on the way there, but not the fish πŸ™‚

hahahaha! ok, nice one. fair play.

i liked your edit.

having said that tho, i find it so odd how you could have a craving for mackedie’s fries AFTER watching supersize me! ARG

uh oh.. now i’m craving too

Frankly, it’s given me a mega cravings for McDonalds fries..
I felt exactly the same when I watched it! hehehe. πŸ™‚

Heh…I watched that too and it didn’t really put me off them…like you said, it’s not like people would eat it every meal every day. Interesting thing was the chicken nuggets but now they use real chicken breast so that aint a problem anymore.

I still enjoy my golden arches now and then…

So many people I know proclaim Maccas is “TERRIBLE”, esp after watching the movie.. and after hearing the rumour that they use rabbit in their Chicken McNuggets. Doesn’t put me off though πŸ˜›

What can I say, I agree! I used to eat McDonald’s almost everyday on the way home from school – I’d do drive through. Just once a day though. Because it made me happy, and I liked it like that! Supesize Me didn’t change my sentiments towards McDonald’s. LOL.

Oh well maybe we’ll see the effects when we’re older. Hehehe just kidding. Until then, I’m just happy with my McDo (how we lovingly call Mickey D’s here in the Philippines!) πŸ™‚
