I know exactly what you mean about the marriage thing. I’ve been dating my boyfriend for 3 years and everyone is like when are you two getting married… um.. not for a while. Plus I’m still in school. There’s so many thing I want to do before I get married and have to settle down and think of my relationship as “us”.

I think the media emphasis marriage as being the most important thing you do while you are young. It’s like I’m young. I want to know that if I decide one day that Chris (my boyfriend) and I are not going in the same direction, I don’t have to stay there and work things out I can just leave and continue on my way. People don’t realize that marriage means I promise to stick with you through the thick and the thin and I promise to love you no matter what you do (even if you lay around the house and be a bum).

My roomate right now is all about marriage. She talks about it all the time. She even got mad when I said I wouldn’t want a diamond ring I would rather have something more unique. She wants to get married some time this year and she still has to go to law school. I couldn’t imagine being in school and coming home and having to worry about dinner or if the house is clean.

Ya I agree.. loads of people get married in their 30s and are quite happy with it. It’s mainly ‘cos we’ve been together for 5+ years, that’s why, I reckon.

What would you rather have instead of a ring? A friend of mine wants a bag instead.. I find that a bit odd though πŸ˜›

You should marry when you are around 30 something… 25 is way too young. Plus 50 years with one person is just mind blowing when you put the figures together.

Congrats to her and also to the family!

Meh, get married when you’re ready. And if you’re ready there should be no reason for hurry. πŸ™‚

Ya, I agree.. our friends always ask us when we’ll get married, since so many of them are – to be honest I find that a bit rushed to get married so young.. can’t even begin a career :X

Ive sent my congrats to your cousin, this is so exciting! πŸ˜›

And yes, we have all grown up so quickly. Went toy’r’us the other day to get a gift for my year old cousin and saw my yesteryears flashing past in my head. πŸ˜‰

Hey, I’m the middle cousin too! No one’s married yet, but I know my family is just hanging off their seats waiting for me to announce my engagement ASAP. Gah! Definitely nothing like that for me right now in the near future.

*timidly* BTW, did you unfriend me for any particular reason? Or just list-cleaning? I did love reading your posts even if I didn’t comment very much.

My parents aren’t keen on me getting married atm, but I know my relatives will ask when I’m getting married when I’m next back in SG! :X

I went through my Friends list and took of any inactive users.. but I just added you back! πŸ™‚

Yeah.. it SEEMS easy on the surface, but there are always issues.. and not just when you get married, but afterwards too. There’s the saying that as long as you have love, you can do anything. But I think you need love AND a lot of other things too!

It’s definitely surreal when people you know when you were kids get married.. I just can’t imagine them as married adults πŸ˜›
