Hi, Beverly! πŸ™‚
Nice pics! I’ve always love to see the pictures that you’ve taken. Australia is so lovely!
Btw, if you don’t mind, can you please recommend nice and safe place to stay which is near to UNSW? My youngest sister is going to study there on July 2005 and she hasn’t find a place to stay yet.
Thank you so much, Bev! πŸ™‚

What is your sis going to study at UNSW? I studied Comp Sci and psychology there πŸ™‚

I stayed at New College and I highly recommend it. You make instant friends and it’s a lovely community. I don’t recommend living by herself as you just get so isolated from everyone, not to mention it will be difficult if she doesn’t have family around!

You studied 2 majors? wow! πŸ˜‰
My sis is going to study accounting. She likes it, don’t know why πŸ˜›

Thank you for your recommendation! Told her already, but she still wants to live off-campus. Maybe because she would like us (the family) to often visit her there and stay with her πŸ™‚

Oh, is Randwick area safe, Bev?

I started with just Comp Sci.. but then took on Psych for fun πŸ˜›

Is she going to live alone? If she doesn’t want to live on campus, having a flatmate will make it a lot easier! Still recommend College though, it’s fantastic and great for a fab social life πŸ™‚ I also met Chris in college, hehe.

I lived in Randwick for 1 yr when I moved out of college – it technically has high crime, but having said that, I was never burgled and never felt unsafe. However the apartments are kinda dodgy/grimy/old and pretty $$. DEFINITELY not super classy executive flashy apartments! But if you’re looking at pay over $400/week for a decent/livable place with no mould and no yuck stuff and is modern/clean, then it’s possible πŸ™‚

Thanks for your info! πŸ™‚
I really want my sister to have a safe place to stay!
I have also heard that the more you pay for the rent price, usually the better deal you’ll get from it (like the security, decent to live in, nicer neighbourhood, etc).
Actually we’re kinda dizzy because we don’t really know the neighbourhood there, but we need to find a nice, safe place which is not very far from the university since my sister can’t drive ;D So I think we’re ready to pay for a higher rent price as long as the place meets our criteria πŸ™‚
But thank you very much for your information, Bev! I don’t want to take up more of your time just for this problem πŸ˜›
You really are a nice person! πŸ™‚

Safety’s really important – also try not to take evening/night classes, dont’ forget the sun goes down at 4+pm in winter!

I guess it’s logical, but if you’re looking to pay $XX, then the closer you get to Uni, the crappier the place will be – unless you’re willing to pay a lot more. Like you said, if you want security, pool/tennis court/gym, modern unit, no mould/crap, new/clean carpet, etc.. you’ll just have to pay more. I’d look at paying $350-400/week for a decent place.

I recommend Kingsford as well – Chris lived on Meeks St and the unit was roomy and modern and clean – it was around $450/wk but had 3 bedrooms.

G’luck! If you have the addresses or pics of places you’re interested in, feel free to email me and I can try and help out best I can πŸ™‚ Are you coming here with your sis to personally look at units before you commit?

I love the Coach scarf, have you tried wearing your scarves as a headband? Love all the beautiful pictures, especially the one on the wharf.

I have a yuck round face so I don’t think it looks nice as a headband πŸ™
But I love wearing my skinny scarves around my wrist!

We were lucky to have perfect weather! And not humid at all too.. that’s what i like best about AU πŸ™‚

Re: scarf

Uhm!!!! *shifty eyed*
Maybe πŸ˜› I bought it from a friend who listed it on eBay. I like it as since it’s rainbow it’ll match pretty much anything! I’m totally obsessed with scarves now.. can’t wait for winter, hee!
