Katong Laksa

Bev, remember reading one of your entries where you had some HK food or something at East Coast Rd… it’s not far from Katong Laksa you know? Just that there’s plenty claiming theirs as the original one, haha! And where you were eating, just one or two shops down… they sell really good ‘ba chor mee’! It’s open 24hrs, try it when you are in Sg again!

Re: Katong Laksa

It’s this noodle with pork lard and all. Hard for me to describe! Shall try to take a pic of it the next time i eat there!

Re: Katong Laksa

Pork lard!! That sounds scary πŸ˜‰ Ya please do take a pic if you get a chance.. we don’t have it here in AU at all πŸ™

Nothing beats home cooking.

PS. Quick question. One of my girlfriends is signing up with this survey thing online (where she gets paid to fill out surveys). I remember you mentioning that a while ago — which website did you go through? She just emailed me a link to the company she is doing surveys through, and it just looks really really dodgy. I thought maybe I would refer her to yours, cos you said you actually got a check in the mail from it.

Thanks, sweetie. I was seriously sketched out with the survey website my friend sent me, cos it just looked like a complete scam.. I personally told her that I wouldn’t release my name and address on such a cheap-looking website (I know I shouldn’t judge by the website alone).. but the whole thing was so suspicious-looking, yknow? I’ll email her this link. xxoo

Tissues

You know, it’d be really funny if you went round harvesting tissues in the food courts. That’s a good lot of tissues you can use. Goodness knows I’m so tempted to do that. It’s just darn irritating when you turn around and the empty seat you were contemplating to take has already be “reserved”.

Sorry I didn’t get time to see Misty this time round. I’ll be coming for about two weeks in late June/early July – hopefully Misty will still be friendly enough to play with strangers then. I’m so fascinated by ferrets!

Danae.

Re: Tissues

I meant “been” taken, sorry.

It’s been two months since you were last back in Singapore? Geez, where does the time go? I remember gettin really surprised when I saw you in Charles & Keith Suntec. The freaky thing is, I saw another person I knew from school like 10 years back. Well, someone I didn’t like and probably didn’t see me but still … AND one of the girls with me saw someone who’s based in NYC but just came back to Singapore for a holiday minutes after I saw you! Talk about coincidence.

Re: Tissues

Haha I know.. near the end of my trip I felt like just taking the tissues πŸ˜› But it’s not like the SG’eans are being kiasu, it’s just that they have no choice I think – esp the office workers that go out in groups and all want to order at the same thing and not leave 1 person behind to look after the table!

Are you already back in SG? That was a FAST trip!!

Re: Tissues

Well, I got off the plane on a Tuesday, I think the same day your parents arrived? Plane was delayed from Singapore due to some engine glitch, I had a stopover I didn’t know about in Brisbane so arrived around lunchtime. The week just flew. Met up with a few friends, then realized I hadn’t been to the north of the Bridge yet, nor seen Misty … what a bummer! I so wanted to see here? So, I’m coming for two weeks near the end of financial year when the sales start as my uncle wants to get some new home appliances. Love bargaining!

Hehe I know, it’s funny.. no matter how people don’t like to be generalised, there ARE certain things about a country that makes them unique! πŸ˜›

Yeah, it LOOKS like their free if you’re not from SG or haven’t been there in awhile πŸ˜›

The laksa actually had coconut cream but there was little soup and tons of ingredients, so it looks so white and plain (hence healthy, hehe)! But boy it was TASTY and YUM :)~

What’s Katong Laksa like?? You’ll never believe it, bu t I”ve never actually had SG laksa in SG.. i’ve only ever had it in AU, like most other SG food I’ve tried! I never used to like it πŸ˜‰

Hhehehehheheheheeeeee I would probably do that! Just innocently think it was free and go “oooh! what a nice hawker centre/food court, they give free newspapers/tissues” πŸ˜›

What does chope mean?

And I remember reading an article a few months ago about the low birth rate in Singapore. The leading picture was SO funny because it was a woman and she was bent forward and her boyfriend/husband was directly behind her a la doggystyle and here’s this doctor standing next to them pointing things out. The woman looked so bored LOL She’s like “Can we just get this over with?”
