EVERYTHING is more expensive here (Aust.) than in S’pore isn’t it? or maybe cos of the strong Aussie Dollar at the moment, everything in other countries seems unusually cheap??

Shame about not having more time to spend with your family in S’pore but you are right.. some time away is better than no time at all..

haha when I took time off work a few months ago , (for 3 weeks) I hadn’t been with the company for a year yet .. when I got back I was owed ‘negative leave’ days/hours.. and now I’ve only just started to get positive again and now are owed only 2-3 days leave πŸ™

supercamel

Well, houses and cars are FAR more expensive in SG.. but other than that, yeah, same thing but cheaper in SG!

On negative leave sucks hey πŸ™ Well at least you’re in the positive now!

The build-a-bear place at Bondi looks identical to the place you guys went to – same outfits, hearts, birth certificates, etc! But it’s pretty $$, you could easily spend $100+ just to get one bear and a certificate. :/

oh fooooooooood! I know what you mean about the eating though, when I was in china for 3 weeks in july we ate out almost everyday πŸ˜€ I took lots of photos of the food but was too lazy to put them on lj! I’m not all diligent like you!

Shoes look great! And the teddy bear thing is awesome!!

wow we love pics! hee hee…oh we have build a bear here in the states, it’s just like cool bear shop, except they’re over run by annoying little bratty rich kids…blah on them…

OMG, your last day??? We’ll have to meet up for the feasting when you come back again then. πŸ™

But as if you’ve not done ’nuff eating already, lol. :P~

Build-a-Bear Sydney

Hi Bev, great pics πŸ™‚

I went to the Build-A-Bear workshop at Rockefeller Centre when I was in New York and it sounds like the same concept to the Cool Bear Worshop you went to in SG πŸ™‚

We do have a couple here in Australia, in Bondi Junction and Castle Hill in Sydney. Check out for more details. Enjoy your last day there and hope your trip home is a safe and quick one!

Re: Build-a-Bear Sydney

Ahhh I never even noticed those bear places in AU!! SO going to Bondi to check it out πŸ˜› Thanks!

Hi Bev.. you must be sad to be leaving s’pore. how come you are leaving so soon?

I’ve actually seen both the Make a bear thing and the pillows at Warringah Mall. The bear workshop shop (not sure of the actual name or brand or which country it came from) did not last long and the store was closed down. There was some weird conspiracy going on about why the store closed and neither the staff nor customers were notified about it , it was so sudden. Also the staff didn’t get paid out properly πŸ™

Also the Sanrio store in Chatswood closed down.. not to mention various Granny Mays.. I just don’t think cutesy stores do very well in Australia for some reason πŸ™

The pillows.. Ok i don’t know if they are exactly the same but seem very similar according to your descriptions.. for anyone in sydney wondering about them.. i’ve seen them in both w. mall and chatswood (which means they are probably at other Westfields/malls too).. they are sold at temporary stalls which come and go.. ie not at an actual store/shop.

oh,at that bear workshop store they also had other animals apart from bears.. i was hoping there’d be camels but unfortunately there weren’t any hehe πŸ™

I only took 3 days off work and was in SG for only 10 days.. dont’ have time to take more leave! :T

I never noticed the pillows in AU!! Ahhh I must look out for them now, I want to collect them, they’re so soft and cuddly πŸ™‚ Do you know which store in Chatswood you saw it in? There’s a build-a-bear store at Bondi so I’m going to check it out, wonder if it’s more $$ or cheaper.. But yeah, Australian’s don’t like cute stuff in general I think :(((

I love looking at all the delicious food you eat!! Wish we had the same quality of those foods here!! BTW, sexy shoes!! =)

Man you would love the carrot cake at that yum cha place – different to the usual sort as it was so soft and fine, delicious!

Oh, a friend got his bear custom made in the US, wonder if it’s from Cool Bear Workshop. This friend of mine did a full demonstration of decapitating the bear in every imaginable way, with the intestines falling out! >_< Adorable though.

Love that red pointy shoes of yours. Where did u get it? Charles and Keith too?

Oh, and those marshmallows cushions are such a rave in my office right now. I’m like holding back and trying not to conform although I’m itching for one. =P One more thing, you love eating but you don’t seem to gain extra pounds! I love food too but it looks like every bread I eat, i put on a pound. O.o

the Cool Bear Workshop store is SG-started, but I reckon they took the idea from the States πŸ˜› Shoes were from Citylink mall.. can’t remember the store though! πŸ™ I didn’t buy them in the end, decided I didn’t *need* them. HOw good am I? haha!

My cousins were telling me those pillows are all over SG – too bad they haven’t hit AU, they’re so nice!! Unfortunately since the material is so soft and delicate I have to be careful and can’t chuck them around.

Oh my tummy DOES seem to get bigger every year, quite scary. But my NY resolution is to cut down, so I’m keeping to it (or at least starting on Jan 4 when I leave SG, haha)

Those first pair of shoes remind me of the Coach logo.
Also, Oprah featured build a bear workshop on her show once. We have it in West Edmonton Mall, and I agree they are really cute.

Someone else said it looks like the Gucci logo. Who knows, all I know is that it cost me AU$30 πŸ˜€ Whee!

Wish we had the build-a-bear thing in AU, it’s pretty cute

There’s definitely a very similar create your own bear place in Australia, at Bondi Junction in fact. I just visited it last week when I was in Sydney. Can’t remember the exact location but I think it was on the 5th floor, near where the food court is.

Yeah someone mentioned there’s a similar one in Bondi, going next week to check it out! But apparently it’s a lot more $$ πŸ™

I’ve seen american Girl dolls, they’re gorgeous! Can’t believe the bears are more popular though! An Asian doll would be SO divine πŸ™‚

The Cool Bear Workshop is such a novel idea, indeed!

Bev, the piggy marshmallow pillow is SO CUTE! Today is your last full day in SG, that means tomorrow you’re flying back to Oz? I really really want to get that piggy pillow, would it be possible for you to get one for me before you go back? (that’s if you don’t mind, of course!) I can transfer the money to your Australian bank account.

Hey girl πŸ™‚

If you want the piggy pillow, ask – that’s my cousin Amanda and she knows where to get ’em and can get one for you. I won’t be at the store before I go and won’t be able to get to the PO in time unfortunately :((( Highly recommend ’em though, they are SO CUTE and have this totally unusual fabric and softness. They also have pink stars and purple stars

Ohhh okay, will ask her πŸ™‚ I’m in Australia though, can I just transfer the money to your account or should I give the money directly to her?
