I think this is because

If you use tap water then limescale will built up quicker than with boiled water (i think)At least if you boil the water it keeps your feet warm longer!

Re: I think this is because

Ya, and it says it gets copper buildup.. but I don’t think I care about that, cos I”d rather pay another $2 to get another bottle in a year’s time, rather than have the hassle of boiling water all the time!

Hmm…. Not sure why it says not to use hot tap, but it might be a safety issue, so my advice would be to go ahead and follow the directions. Or, as an alternative to a hot water bottle, have you tried a cloth bag full of dried beans? Just heat it up in the microwave for about 30 seconds, and it stays warm for hours! Great over your feet through those cold nights!

It said it has a “high copper content”. And that it’ll make the bottle not last as long. But heck, I just want it for this winter, if it really goes crappy on me, I’ll just buy another one next winter, it was only $2!

Oooh where do I get dried beans? WHat sort of beans? I’m going to have to try that.. put it in a small pillow case or something.. I get so cold in winter πŸ™

I did the bean pillow thing this winter when my aprtment had no heat at all and any kind of beans will do (I don’t use chickpeas though. Just hate them.) Dried beans are sold in the supermarket. In New York, it’s usually in the beans/rice aisle. I’ve only seen Goya brand beans but I’m not sure if they have them in Australia.
