Hi,i did exactly what u say but my cake has already been baking for about 40 minutes now and it;s still soggy. The top is not crusty at all…So disappointed..

Phyllis from Singapore.
A girl who just browse through ur journal by luck.

Ack! You have it on the right heat setting and used enough flour? It should set quite nicely by about 40 mins with a crusty crispy crust and a super moist interior.. I think a few other people used the same recipe too and it worked out for them.. sorry about that!

hey bev
was just reading ur recipe and i saw this

7. Pour into a baking dish and place this on top of a baking tray filled with water. Place in oven for approx 30-40 mins or when cake is crusty on the top but gooey on the inside.

wont the water…erm…..boil?
couldnt u just bake it like that?

im looking forward to trying this out tho..

Yeah if you put the cake pan in *another* larger pan filled with water, that water just evaporates as you’re baking and basically keeps the cake/pudding from drying out so it’s super moist when you take it out πŸ™‚ I haven’t done it without the larger pan with water.. but you can try not doing it and see if that works? let me know how it goes though, I’m interested if it’s the same cos then I can just not do that extra step!

Beverly, thanks for the recipe. My bf bought my all the ingredients last night and I was baking away around midnight. And it turned out just like you said – moist and chocolatey πŸ™‚ Love it! And it was crusty on top so thats a double bonus!

Cool! It didn’t take you long to make did it? Cos mixing the stuff shouldn’t take more than 15 mins and it takes about half hr to bake.. and yeah, the crusty top and the soft bottom is the best bit :)~

Well, I didn’t use baking chocolates. I used Cadbury instead ‘cos that was the closest thing bf could find at that time of the night. Still tasted yummy. The next day, my housemates raided the whole thing and it was gone when I woke up. Good recipe! Share more yea πŸ™‚

Yeah I didn’t use baking chocs either.. I used Nestle’s choc buttons which are more of a melting choc or something like that – but hey, it works! Hehe hope your housemates liked it too πŸ˜‰

I’m going to make mini sausage rolls and triple-choc fudge brownies later during the week.. I think I’m becoming obsessive, heh.

arrrrgggoorrr…. *random gurgling drooling sound*
i’m drooling just at the thought of eating a piece of really moist gooey chocolate cake.
ps: i also love sticky date pudding with butterscotch sauce and anglaise cream. :P~~~~~~~~~~~

MMMMMMM! I’m going to have to make this for my husband before he deploys. πŸ™‚ Jon will be so skinny when he gets back πŸ™
Thanks for the recipe! <3 Summer

I’m sorry to hear your husband has to go πŸ™ I’ll pray that God will keep him safe! But yeah, a totally rich dessert is just what he needs, after a homecooked meal! πŸ™‚
